Smoking is Harmful Smoking affects society in every way. People don’t realize that cigarettes can change their life. Many people waste over 100 dollars on cigarettes each week. Today, it is common to see people with a cigarette in their hand. Smoking causes people many problems such as health issues and physical emotions. When there is a smoker in the family, everyone suffers. No mother in this world would like to see her daughter/son have a sickness because of smoking. Second hand smoking can be really harmful to people who are around the smoker. A smoker does not realize that his or her most loved people can be harmed by smelling smoke every time that they pull out that cigarette go start smoking. Kids who grow up with parents that smoke inside the house are at a higher risk of suffering from asthma. One of the greatest concerns with smoking is lung cancer. Many adults are suffering with this problem, leaving their kids alone with just one parent. Along with lung cancer comes any other respiratory problems that affect elderly people. The most common respiratory disease among smokers is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Society is one of the major problems in a smoker’s life. Some people are not polite and will make rude comments about people who smoke. Some people cannot stand the smoke and are allergic to it. It is really unpleasant when people are trying to have a meeting with a smoker and the only smell they can smell is the cigarette. Some kids who have asthma cannot be around people who smoke. When a person has been smoking for a couple of years, his or her appearance starts to change. One effect of the cigarette is that it makes the smoker look and feel older more quickly than it does for a person who does not smoke. Some people that smoke everyday smell like cigarettes even if they are not smoking at the time. The smell is really unpleasant.
