From the ones that have half naked girls in them to the ones informing you of how many people die annually from cigarettes. This particular advertisement stuck out to me because in a way it shows both. As mentioned before, cigarettes are a common habit among the people, in a very big way. Some smoke because they need to and others because its a habit they formed when they were teens and they just can’t seem to stop. Well, this advertisement shows that entirely.

| | | Infants and children are not old enough to tell their guardians what they can and can’t do around them. Their needs to be policies that the government needs to over think that protect the health of these innocent infants and children that have no say. Just like there was a ban on smoking in public restaurants or 15 feet from a restaurant entrance, there needs to be a ban on smoking in a vehicle with children in the car. Secondhand smoke leads to many health problems that could have been prevented. | | Imagine that while growing up your parents or guardian always smoked cigarettes around you.
Especially if you’re a parent and have children of any age, they’ll breathe in all the smoke that you have just exhaled. I know it’s free but, I still don’t want it! In conclusion I think that smoking is just the most revolting habit because it’s smelly, makes your teeth go yellow, gives you cancer and is ridiculously expensive. This even pushes Angela to a depressed state for a while where all she can do is smoke woodbine cigarettes and drink lemonade, neglecting her own children. Frequently, throughout the book, she must go to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in order to receive welfare for her family. This remains the only source of money for the McCourts due to the fact that when Malachy actually does get a job he ends up losing it or using his wages on alcohol. Angela’s Ashes shows the reader how an addiction can wreak havoc on a family, especially when that family has little to begin with.

This quote took place when Holden had just come home but his parents did not know he was there. When he was reading Phoebe’s notebook he was starting to miss being home, that is when he started to feel sad and so he smoked, a lot. Only a teenager can really relate to this because Holden was not straight with his parents, every teenager has lied to their parents at some point.
