The majority of readers read tabloid newspapers as some of them are free and all are easy to read. However at the same time they often present a biased inaccurate and unsubstantiated image of adolescents, whereas broadsheets have longer articles which are balanced, use less emotive language and are usually able to back up their points with statistics. The differences are very obvious in the article in the Guardian ‘Not yobs but loving, maligned boys- survey finds’ and the article in The Mail on Sunday ‘Shami’s whining is worse than the Mosquito’. In the Mail on Sunday Peter Hitchens discusses how the Mosquito, a device that creates a piercing sound, painful to adolescents, has been criticised by human right supporters. He makes most of the readers believe what he says as he describes teenagers in a totally negative way and creates a very bad image of them.

Both books are skillful novels, which deal with the theme of `outsiders', that is, individuals who do not fit into the mainstream of society. This feature is shown in many different ways in both of the books, mostly in the two protagonists of the texts. The 15 year old Christopher Boone of ‘The Curious Incident’ suffers under the Asperger syndrome and therefore has a different perspective on life than normal people.
Of Mice and Men – Power Of Mice and Men is a film produced in 1992, depicting the American world during the late 1920’s Great Depression. ------------------------------------------------- ‘Show how Steinbeck explores the complex relationship between George and Lennie in ‘Of Mice & Men’ with close reference to key scenes in the novel’ P.E.E. Make your point….explain what you mean….. quote. Make sure you say ‘Steinbeck presents them’, ‘Steinbeck describes them as’…. etc. Ask yourself each time you make a point: what does it say about their relationship?
If your question is "Explore the way family relationships are presented in Romeo and Juliet" think what your answer is, boil it down to a single sentence and start with that. Start with an interesting positive statement - eg, "In Romeo and Juliet tensions within families are shown to be far greater than tensions between families." If the question is "How does Steinbeck create a distinctive sense of voice in Of Mice and Men?" you could begin with "Steinbeck creates a distinctive sense of voice by writing his novel like a play." Tip: if you had to describe your essay in a single sentence, what would that sentence be?
