Associate Level Material Six Dimensions of Health Worksheet Part 1 For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions. Physical health: I come from an obese family, and I have always been an average weight because I strive to keep myself physically healthy and eat right. Social health: I try to make it a point to meet new people and make more friends wherever I go so I can keep my social life healthy and active. Intellectual health: I am always reading and trying to learn new things and hear different ideas and viewpoints. Environmental health: I like to have a nice, clean, organized and stress free environment where I can concentrate and relax and feel safe. Emotional health: I try very hard to say what is on my mind and deal with any emotions or emotional problems immediately as they arise, rather than bottling them up inside of me to get worse and worse. Spiritual health: I am not sure where my stance is on religion, but I try to be the best person I can be and I try to learn and listen to as many different spiritual view points as I can, and try to learn as much as I can from them. Part 2 In approximately 125 to 200 words, describe health and wellness in your own words using the ideas and concepts for each of the six dimensions of health. Emotional health is understanding our emotions and finding healthy ways of expressing them is important to emotional health. Learn to accept your limitations and embrace ways to form healthy relationships with others. Maintain a sense of perspective, and learn to control emotions like sadness, anger, or frustration.
