Case Analysis 3 D.U. Singer Hospital Products Corporation has instructed the Antiseptic Division to create a project plan for development of a long-term antiseptic product up to the startup of the production. Mike Richards, the scientist who developed the product, was designated as Project Manager for the project and he will also receive help from other parts of the company. As stated from a case study, the objective of the project is to develop, introduce and market a long term antiseptic product that is compliant with both external (FDA, EPA, and OSHA) regulations and internal specifications with a production yield of 95 percent at a level of 80 percent of the full production of the goal of 10 million liters per year (“D.U. Singer Hospital Case”, 2013). The corporation also required Mike to ensure that manufacturing was carried out in accordance with corporate policies and standards. With all these things in mind, the project manager and the project itself seemed to face a lot of problems. The different problems that will come when completing the project include five things, with first starting out with the experience that Mike Richards has with Project Management. He is the scientist that developed the product but it is not known how much experience he has in managing a project or a team and if he has the necessary skills to execute the project. There is also the problem with having to rely on outside or third parties suppliers for the equipment requirements and as a result, could cause the project to run late because of suppliers not meeting their deadlines. Delays in completing the documentation could also affect the timing of the suppliers and getting the project completed.
