Local Government. The LEA's duty is to ensure a high standard of education for all children, including those with SEN. One main role they have is implement the policies set by the National Government and follow the curriculum they also set. They are responsible for things such as; catchment areas, funding for trips, free school meals, hiring the staff/maintenance staff/cleaners/caterers etc. When parents and/ or carers apply for a school for their child to attend, they may not always get in if they do not fit the criteria (catchment area). Therefore, the LEA has to deal with the appeals process.
Here are some of the policies and frameworks on the early years sector and how they have influenced it. Equality act- the equality act has had an influence on the early years sector As it means that employers must allow staff and children to come into their setting to work, or play no matter of their race, cultural background or even sex preference. the Uncrc has had an influence on the early years sector. The four core principles of this are non-discrimination, best interests of the child, right to life, survival and development and to respect the views of a child. This act protects children up to the age of 18 and stresses that no child should be treated unfairly.
They work to stop discrimination against disabled people, men and women and people from different races and cultures. They also want to make sure peoples human rights are respected. Human rights are about how we treat each other, they are about: respect, freedom, equality, dignity and fairness. Human rights include: The right to life - this means that your life is as important as anyone else’s. The right to respect for private and family life - this means the right to live as a family.
Although the latter group can be facing a much more extreme challenge of cultural difference, they are rarely studied as a distinctive subgroup (Brilliant, 2000). Other than the mixing up of new immigrants and minority residents, multicultural issue itself is often described as one single concept, which is far from enough to meet the needs of each specific subgroup from various cultural backgrounds (Kim and Omizo, 1996). Take the APPIC internship sites for an example, many mentioned in their description that they serve a diverse population and that students will be able to obtain trainings regarding
Another problem was that even though there are anti-discrimination policies, a slight differential treatment towards minorities is still present. Employers expect and demand more input from minority groups and that is why people are hesitant to leave their workplace to cast a vote (Rivers, 2012). An outside source looks at voting from a different perspective. An interestingly opposing statistic is that minority groups with higher education and social status take the time to participate, as voting is very important to them. They want to take part in the choice of their government because it took so long and so much effort for them to receive the equal rights and abilities to enjoy democracy (Speel, 2010).
It was now my responsibility to show others how to become leaders. This will make me a better citizen of the United States because I will have the skills to become a leader in my community. My continuing preparation for good citizenship involves the ethical code of conduct: honor. This is something that is not taught in any other class in high school. I expect myself, and others, to be honest, to be cadets with integrity, and to exemplify ethical behavior.
It is up to the individuals themselves to accept other people’s way of life. According to Tomovska, “within the microsystem the change and development of one member can instigate change in other members as well”. Mass media also plays a huge role on the negative perception of a certain ethnic minority. According to a very credible source, White, Rob and Perrone Santana, form the article Racism, Ethnicity and Hate Crime. “The negative portray of ethnic minority youths in the media is not, however, simply or solely due to, misguided stereotypes and sensationalist reporting.
Due to the diversity of it's people, the United States has some challenges to face in the coming years. We have to overcome discrimination of other races, those who are disabled, and the elderly. We have to look at others as Americans and not African-Americans,
Having a deep history of racial diversity and assimilation through the colonization of these countries, there are many different races, and many different people identify with races that one would not immediately think they would fall under. It is because of this complexity that it requires a deeper understanding of the cultures in order
Assimilation implies that newcomers should dress the way Americans do. But many national and religious traditions require a certain way of dressing for men and women. These people may look more noticeable and different in the crowd, however nobody should force them to wear clothes that they do not want to. An integral part of every culture is holidays. The immigrants who celebrate American holidays do not want to give up their own ones.
