Throughout decades of sporting history, steroids have always been a hot topic; whether they should be allowed or not? In the short term steroids can be very significant (not straight away) and essentially makes you a stronger and more powerful athlete, possibly a worse human however. Are steroids justifiable and do they have a place in the sporting world? There are two different types of steroids. Anabolic steroids increase muscle growth and build and the other; corticosteroids which repairs muscle. Anabolic steroids are the type of steroids that athletes use to improve their performance level. Corticosteroids are the steroids athletes will use to speed up recovery time to make it in time for an upcoming event. Steroids also have their benefits for the viewers of sport, the actual perfromances would be of a higher quality. A huge part of watching sports is witnessing the very peak of human athletic ability, and legalizing performance enhancing drugs would help athletes climb even higher. Steroids will overall enhance performance of all sports. From a business prespective it could also make sense to legalise steroids. In 1999 and 1998 Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa performed one the most remember-able performances in basbeall history. Jerseys were being sold more then ever, games sold out and baseball was so exciting that some had said it had ruined normal baseball. However you could then argue that would all this happen if records were broken more regularly, the answer is no. Legalizing PEDs would make life much easier for sports organizations that are asked to carry out anti-doping policies. People can also argue what is and isn’t an improper performance enhancer.
