The strengths of early intervention are enhanced development, minimized developmental delays, and can decrease the need for special education in the future. Early intervention builds the child and family up so they can see that the disability will not hold the child down. It gives the family a head start on educational services so that the child will not fall behind when the reach grade
Does standardized testing improve education in public schools? Terrie Lynn Bittner the author of Homeschoolers Should Not Take Standardized Test would argue that it has not been proven that these tests help public school students. The author states that testing is nothing more than routine memorization and not true learning. So, homeschoolers shouldn’t have to take standardized tests because the parents do not need testing to see their children’s progress. With homeschooling, the parents are the ones teaching their children, so they know their progress, strengths and weaknesses.
It can be argued that a certain amount of conformity is required in order to be an active member of society. Source D makes that point, stating that “you cannot have a democratic- indeed, civilized- community life unless people have learned to participate in a disciplined way as a part of a group.” However, gaining the skills to behave in a group setting is not synonymous with the loss of individuality. In fact, individuality is a key part of living life beyond high school. The bell schedule in source B is a good example of how conformity can hinder the personal growth of students in public schools. Students attending the high school begin their day, every day, at exactly 8:16 am and are expected to attend “Period 1, Period 2, Period 3… etc.” until they end their day at 3:01.
They can move to a better school if they have problems with theirs, or get supplemental resources, after school tutoring to help. Money is moved and spent in better ways, testing improves school curriculum. I think one would assume that NCLB helps, but according to the book Civil Rights Project/Proyecto Derechos Civiles (CRP/PDC) at UCLA's Graduate School of Education & Information Studies this may not be true. This book claims that the current accountability system does not provided sufficient evidence that the NCLB act has closed the achievement gaps. The book also claims that the NCLB accountability system does not provide the information needed to show how students are performing, or how to improve instruction, it also states that the achievement gaps that were meant to be closed are not showing, promising numbers and states are having a hard time helping low-performing schools (Engel,
SOL WRITING PROMPT PRACTICE Students should not be required to volunteer in their communities in order to receive their high school diplomas. This is because community service is not academic, volunteering is something that a person does if they want to help, not because they’re being forced to, and while some may say that community service looks good on resumes, if everyone does it then it’s not special anymore. Volunteering to do community service is a beneficial activity for the volunteer and the community, but making it mandatory to graduate defeats the purpose. High school diplomas are received based on a student’s academic credits and scores. Or at least they should be, because students go to high school in order to get an education and learn and improve their academic knowledge.
By incorporating uniforms into schools administrators can create an environment where education can prepare children for the future, eliminate the vast differences in social classes and teach the children of tomorrow how to respect their surroundings. With a great amount of emphasis being placed on current trends, many students and parents seem to get lost in the purpose of education. They lose the understanding that school is not a place to learn about socialization skills, but a place to prepare children for the future. Uniforms can prepare students for life after education, in which most of them will be expected to dress accordingly and to adhere to a corporate dress code. Once children
Help Improve Own and Team Practice in Schools Explain in detail how you would you would take note of children and young people's responses to your own practice: Take and note about you've interacted with children, how they've responded to you and if you can improve or better what happened in a similar situation in the future. It is always important to remember that children are not clones, some respond well to humour, some do not. Even sarcasm meant in the most light hearted manner to some children could be mistaken in some cases as a form of passive aggressiveness, therefore it is best avoided on a one to one basis. It is also important to remember that the people you are assisting are developing in life, some are more advanced than others and some are more sensitive than others. Children may laugh at bit of harmless humour delivered on a friendly manner if being spoken to as a group and it can also be helpful to speed their attention spans which will be on a varied level in every single class sometimes even on each end of the spectrum.
Parents are the main link to children and their health with educators following; as the main sources of our children’s health and well-being, any and all necessary actions should be taken to help children realize their true potential at home, in school and in life. When children aren’t taught how to eat nutritiously, exercise safe and effectively, and succeed academically, they aren’t given a fair shot from the start and that will continue as they grow into adulthood. Children who are obese usually inherit that trait or the behaviors that lead to obesity from their parents/caregivers. They eat unhealthy food and don’t exercise simply because their parents don’t; it can be a vicious cycle that will continue until it’s broken. Parents, unfortunately, don’t
Even though some kids don’t have the same circumstances as others, they should still be made to go to school until they are a legal adult because it will help them get a better job, make better money, and provide more opportunities for themselves than they might have if they dropped out at the young age of sixteen. Free public education is something that the United States has that many other countries in this world is not fortunate enough to have. To be able to send our children to school for free and have them receive a education to help not only better themselves, but also better out nation is one of the main reasons so many families immigrate here. From a young age, most children learn that in order to succeed, one needs to go to school and excel. This, unfortunately, is not always an option for kids.
Nowadays there is a considerable debate whether children should go to schools for education or can have home education instead. People are starting to consider thinking which way would be more suitable for their kids and for themselves as well. They are assessing the positives and negatives of each option and then choosing the one that is best fitting their needs and life style. Although that most of parents that started home education for their children have found out that it is not easy to transfer school facilities to home, but it has become a very accepted alternative way for going to schools . The number of children being educated at home is considerably increasing though there are no accurate prevalence estimates as mentioned by Petrie, Windrass & Thomas, 1999.
