Picture a place which children can walk out of their schools and stroll into a McDonalds. A society in which companies acquire millions of dollars a year by inserting candy or, soda machines in schools. A place in which 65 percent of adults are considered overweight or obese. Envision a place in which obesity kills more people than smoking. What if you were told this place is not in your thoughts or a nightmare but, is the world we live in today? Should you seek help for this epidemic? If you should seek help for this where should you look? Since obesity rates are so alarming some people believe the government should intervene with this problem as they did in the cases of smoking and seat belts. Since people cannot control what they eat the government should have a say in what people consume. Others say that private citizens should be accountable for their own actions. People are accountable for their health, so the government should not be intervening. I think the majority of the responsibility for obesity is in the private citizens of America. I believe the government should regulate anything that has to do with health and obesity. No one can deny the effects of obesity in American‘s health you see it everywhere. No one can also deny that obesity has more of an effect on people with less money. We see an increase in health issue such as heart problems, diabetes and hypertension.
