He insists they would not eat as much if they knew that it was bad for them or if the industry put nutrition labels on their food. My outlook on this topic varied significantly from that of Zinczenko’s. I feel that it is not the fault of the fast food company. Neither would I put blame on the younger children who eat fast food. I would put most of the culpability on the parents who do not teach their kids how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and buy their children unhealthy food. I disagree completely that we as Americans suffer from lack of information about nutrition in fast food.
False advertising is also another unpleasant practice that fast food companies use to lure in costumers. Some of these practices include no warning labels on advertisements like there are on dangerous things like tobacco and confusing labels on food served that lead customers into eating more calories than intended. David Zinczenko advocates that it is some of the fast food companies fault for the decline in America’s general health. At the end, David chooses not to complain about the legalities, but instead encourages us to let the justice system do its work. In the article David Zinczenko discusses “Shouldn't we know better than to eat two meals a day in fast-food restaurants” we the people of America should know by now that it is
They decided not to upgrade the fast food standers. They feel that if a consumer feels it is far too unhealthy for them they won’t eat it. They claim that if eaten in moderation fast food is not unhealthy at all. If a person exercises regularly like they should an occasional fast food visit won’t hurt them at all. They thought it wasn’t there place to tell the company to make better healthier food, they feel that’s like telling each individual to eat healthier, this is basically telling them what to eat.
Company Q’s current mind-set on social responsibility appears to be quite negative, uninformed, and antiquated. It would appear that the company chose to close stores in high risk areas without first investigating how they could provide service to this under-served segment of society while still maintaining a profit margin and ensuring the safety of its employees. The company’s veiled attempt to make quick profits by providing only a small, high margin sampling of the customer requested health-conscious or organic products has likely served only to alienate and diminish their customer base. Lastly, the company’s response to the local food bank’s request for donations appears to a feeble attempt to create a valid reason to avoid the extra work that may have been associated with this endeavor. This response likely had the added effect of offending their employee base by suggesting that their employees would utilize the program to steal from the company.
That is absurd; if people don’t want to gain weight then they shouldn’t eat there or allow their children to eat there if they are going to complain about it. Fast food companies do
Lauren Walker The debates held over aspects of the economy, especially minimum wage, are too numerous to count. The question these days is whether the government should raise the minimum wage or not. To be honest, I believe our country would be better off without a minimum wage, and let businesses decide for themselves what to pay their employers. There are several reasons to be against this claim, but there a subsequent reasons for it, reasons that define a stable economy. Having a minimum wage in our country limits the efficiency of businesses, limits the availability of jobs to citizens because of illegal immigrants, and even drives some people out of business.
More importantly, it hurts the lives of the many people that were working for Hostess. They can't make a living without a job, without a job they wouldn't have the money to pay for their bills or even their house and might even add to the growing population of homeless people. It would also hurt the states in which the bakeries or plants were shut down. Also, the liquidation affects the people who love Hostess, people who grew up with Hostess, and the new-coming babies that won't be able to enjoy any of their products anymore. The Union is supposed to help the economy, not take away businesses that will help it.
There is no training program for them that state any reasons why the culture of the company relies on customer satisfaction. So in this case some employees may feel resentment for having to put so much effort into making their customer happy. For instance, some Nordstrom employees may feel that it is too difficult to meet the needs of some of their customers. Employees are expected to go out of their way, even to work long hours or beyond their hours to meet their customers’ needs, but they do not get compensated for any overtime. The environment for this employee could be very stressful and cause them to not want to put much effort into sales.
Nowadays, the retail industry is targeting younger adults and senior citizens for hire and Wal-Mart is especially guilty for this. In reality it’s impossible to make a living working in retail and these targets are easy to manipulate. The majority of Wal-Marts goods are made outside of the U.S. and often in sweatshops. It’s displeasing and although the fine low prices are tempting, some customers will disappear because customers will feel terrible of workers treatment. Without customers, there is no business and this will hurt this large company in the long-term.
The minimum wage is a form of coercion in which it forced employers to hire at an arbitrary price that otherwise wouldn't be used if not for the government's intervention. The minimum wage causes a few detrimental effects. By raising the minimum wage the employer would either have to fire workers because they cannot keep up with the wages or raise the prices of their products which don’t benefit the so called 99%. Another point is that there doesn't need to be a minimum wage because the superseded fear is that businesses will hire at super low wages caused by collusion. Well contrary to this popular belief the real world doesn't work this way at all.
