Mike Mungin Leslie Hellstrom Introduction to Personal Wellness Concepts 10 December 2009 Personal Wellness and Its Impact on Overall Health Personal wellness is an important part of our every day life. Living day to day not knowing what may be ahead is something we all experience, but living day to day knowing you have done all you could to improve your personal health to the best of your ability, can lead you to a more active, productive and gratifying lifestyle. Having a solid social support network, managing your weight and eating habits, exercising regularly, using the mind-body connection for hardiness and reducing your stressors are areas that can help you improve controlling aspects of your overall health and wellness. As most of us know, being physically fit is not an easy task. The older we grow the more our body breaks down.
My family has a history of diabetes, cancer, heart disease and lung disease. Obesity is a major cause of all of these problems. If I change my diet and exercise pattern now then I have a chance of lowering my risk of getting these diseases from my life. My new exercise and diet are only going tio be the beginning for me. I plan on living a much healthier and fulfilling life.
● What were two positive aspects of the diet? Learning healthier habits and No food restrictions ● Were there any downsides to the diet plan? Explain. You must be willing to record everything you eat and disciplined as well. My weekly progress dissapoints me because I lose very little pounds each week.
Many people live with sickness and illnesses today, because they can’t afford medical bills. Many families struggle with this challenging decision daily, on whether to provide food for their family, or pay for medications. It would also allow poor people to be healthy enough to get jobs, and to maintain them. Healthcare is pushed aside when families are not getting basic needs, like shelter, food or clothes; they die quicker because of lack of treatment. Free healthcare would preserve many lives.
You need to express yourself rather than bottle up your emotions. For the most part you need something to believe in and thrive for. Having health in wellness in your life will create a longer life
Either they’re not poor enough, they’re not poor in the right way ‘ or they need the money for the wrong reasons. The reading in the book Keeping Woman and Children Last, showed time and time again the shocking stories of how people fall into poverty after living a middle class life for decades. Reasons pertaining to illness, death, unemployment, divorce and accidents left these people with nothing and the government would refuse to help them. These people are called the “New Poor”(Sidel, 1998, p.60). Their social security and pensions are not enough for them to live on so they must rely on these funds
My life would be completely different from how it is now. This disease would affect all aspects of my life including personal, social, vocational and family life. People with Alzheimer's disease often have to deal with fatigue and losing the ability to do many of the things that they're used to doing themselves on a daily basis. My personal life would be affected because eventually I would need help doing normal everyday tasks from showering to eating and there basically would be no personal life, I would always need someone around me to help. Socially it would definitely affect friendships because I would forget the people from my life before the disease and be left basically for my family to “deal with” and there would be no social life.
In Living wage sure beats welfare, they say William Bole reports that Rev. Doug Miles found that many of those lining up for the food pantry were holding down full time jobs. “They just couldn’t live on what they were making.” (Bole) In an effort to fix this the Rev. Doug Miles pushed for a living wage, far more than the current minimum wage at the time. The minimum wage that welfare reform was expecting people to live off of was in fact not enough to even support the buying of food.
Everyone should look at health the same way, if you know your body needs certain things to remain healthy then take better control of yourself like maintaining preventative health care. If you are not sure how to do that then go out and get an education that will give you more knowledge to take better
