And of course they should be sexually faithful to each other.” (Coontz 381) In my opinion, I do not agree with Stephanie Coontz saying George Shaw theory of marriage has unrealistic expectations even though each culture has their own interpretation of marriage. No matter what each culture is different, if they believe that having more than one wife or having cospouses it is their choice and some will stay true to the values they were raised on. Finally, Coontz brought forth if someone is not marrying for love but just for the status then what is the point of getting married.

They see it as a fairytale, and love the fact that they will get to be a real princess on their wedding day and have the best day that they could think of. However, a fairytale is not what marriage is at all. On the contrary, about 83 percent of women are in one way or another, abused by their husbands. For the truth is women are sometimes considered to be weak, and are easily overpowered and imprisoned by men, and are not able to live out their dreams, and are only left to wonder.
To Janie a marriage is about a mutual and reciprocal fulfillment that should be filled with love. It seems that throughout the whole narrative, Janie is constantly looking for this type of ideal marriage and love and being at one with nature. In her marriage to Logan Killicks she hopes to find this ideal marriage, “She knew now that marriage did not make love. Janie’s first dream was dead, so she became a woman.”(24). Logan Killicks crushes Janie’s child dream and any hope she had for that perfect marriage and love, so with this new realization, Janie knows that she must become a woman and do away with her childish dreams.

A New Age Civil War Imagine an innocent child, waiting years to be brought home and held by parents that love and care for them. Finally, two perfect people are interested in bringing this child home, to raise them and care for them as their own flesh and blood. But this dream is frozen in time as it cannot be simply because the two perfect people happen to be of the same sex. The child continues to wait. There are thousands of children sedentary in the adoption system, waiting for parents to come along to save them from the vicious cycle of foster houses and orphanages and take them home for their well-deserved happy ending.
One thing most every mother wants, is to give their child the very best they can. When Arianna was born, I was so relieved that she was finally here.
