SHOULD WE COHABIT? Cohabitation or living together is when usually of a man and a woman live together in an emotion and have a sexual relationship without married. It has diffused from 1960s in Western countries. Nowadays, cohabitation is not a strange problem in Vietnam. Unfortunately, it even happens to students. Many students do not know the facts about living together and its risk. According to University researcher, Linda Waite, Professor in Sociology, cohabitation can make many negative effects on their emotional, financial and sometimes physical well-being. Therefore, I am of opinion that students should not living together for the following reasons: To begin with, cohabitation is unsuitable with student’s lifestyle. In my opinion, most of us are too young to handle pressure from a lot of problems which we have not met before such as financial decisions, balancing time for study, family relationship and other activities. We have hardly any time for friends and entertainment. That means we may usually face with stress and have almost no freedom while our friends-without living together feel easy and free. In addition, cohabitation can affect our study. Why do I say that? It affects study because it may harm our health so much, especially female students. They likely get to the risk of being pregnant. How can we bring up child while we depend on our parents? We might abort or drop out of school or study while taking care of child. We can not also concentrate on our study by family problems that I mentioned above. Next, our main duty is learning now. If our study is bad, we will make our parents disappointed. Moreover, some people maintain that cohabitation is almost never the best way to prepare for marriage. We are young so we are usually superficial. How are we sure that our love will last forever?
