However, spirituality can simply be defined as an ongoing endeavor by a person to grow in his or her relationship with the divine. It is an endeavor in that it involves making everyday decision and choices based on spiritual guidelines. It is a way of life. It is ongoing in the sense that it is dynamic and unending. Finally, it involves growing the relationship with the higher being by staying spiritually disciplined on matters like scripture reading and prayer. Spirituality and religion are not the same but the two are interrelated. Religion involves a set of practices and beliefs that are based on the teachings of prophets or saints. Religion focuses on leading a person into spirituality. Spirituality comes from one’s inner self and is usually expressed inform of religious beliefs and practices. The essence of spirituality is the need to know who we really are and to understand the true nature of consciousness. Self knowledge is therefore a key to spirituality. It begins by discovering who you are then advances into a deeper spiritual understanding of who you really are. Self knowledge increases your spiritual understanding and boosts every aspect of your daily life. It can be a major driving force that enables one to maintain a good work-life balance and lead a good social life. In this paper, the major emphasis is on four key areas namely; values clarification, strengths finders, Myers-Briggs, and Enneagram. Each of these areas will explore try to bring out the importance of self knowledge in spirituality. VALUES CLARIFICATION Values clarification means seeking to have clear knowledge about what we value most in life and the reason behind this. Values are what we live for. This is the silent force
