I kept having to return to my initial question to avoid missing the point. At times I felt that I was not getting anywhere. I now understand that this is all part of doing research and, over time, I discovered some interesting themes. Writing up the dissertation was also a challenge. I had to disregard a lot of information that was not entirely relevant to my research question.
Once the barriers have been identified I should look to overcome these. Barriers can be overcome and this can improve my skills and knowledge. These are the barriers that I am likely to face: • Not enough funding to access training • Training courses being cancelled • Not enough time • Language barriers • Some learners think they know it all so don’t understand why they have to do refresher training • Social and personal barriers, where some people cannot attend due to not having child care or appointments may clash with training • Health issues. There are times we have to change dates for learners due to having previous appointments or they have unexpected personal problems so we rebook for them to attend on the next available training course. These
We learned how to belong and how to adjust our lives by bringing out our full potential to become wiser also more confident. There have been times when obstacles came along, we get side tracked and decided to quit. But there is always a word of encouragement coming from somewhere. Either your parents, your teachers or maybe a friend, that could change your negativity into something good. We are not perfect or aim to be.
According to Blanchard and Thacker (2007), this is necessary to show how important learning is for the success of the company as a whole. (p.91) 5. Learning styles and personalities must also be considered to design effective training. Because we are dealing with people, the training should be design to match people’s feelings as well as KSAs. 6.
Sometimes I try to switch it up to reading and watching, but I always seem to fail at that. So now I go hands on as often as possible and work with physical objects or any activity. A good example of learning through this style is in order for me to learn a new a new item or any new equipment that I have to learn, I pretty much play around with the item until I know that I am ok with it or I have full knowledge of how it works or how to work it. I might apply my own learning style to study through this course and the program. I think it will be better for me so that I won’t get confused by switching to a different learning style.
The client may also come to the sessions having drawn up their own plans for progressing. This shows that the client is ready for change and is being much more assertive with their counsellor. A client counsellor session can also start to become quite stagnant. No further development would show that something is amiss. This is usually as a result of the client needing to gain more from their sessions rather than continually going over the same issues.
3. What do I want to improve on when creating lesson plans? I would like to improve in the reflection and assessment areas, as I think that these are areas that I am weakest in. I have never worked in a classroom, or daycare setting where I was exposed to children so; I would also like to gain more self-confidence when creating the plans. This was my first lesson plan and it was somewhat difficult for me.
If you want to be successful in life, your career or in college, you need to build on skills, competencies, and habits of mind. Habits of mind that will pave the road to success are as simple as being persistent, listening and understanding, applying knowledge to situations, and being able to think and communicate clearly. Every person must be able to be punctual, hardworking and committed when it comes to any everyday routine. I believe my strongest skills and habits of mind are being persistent, being punctual, being committed, being hardworking and finding humor. The habits that need to be worked on are interpersonal and being open to change.
Mezirow (1997, 2000) states: “Transformative learning refers to transforming a problematic frame of reference to make it more dependable in our adult life by generating opinions and interactions that are more justified. We become critically reflective of those beliefs that become problematic.” (p20) Mezirow (1997, 2000) implies depth of learning is gained from being critically reflective on self and on others work in order to strive towards change; also that there needs to be a desire for making changes i.e. a purpose to the action. Mezirow (1997, 2000) further discusses that critical reflections should encompass looking at self as well as considering; social, educational, political or psychological influences similar in concept to reflection on action as outlined in theory discussed by Schön (1983) although Schön (1983) does go on and include reflection in action within his work, something Mezirow does not. Schön (1983) suggested that reflection is a key factor for professionals to deal with complex situations and for professional development.
Evaluating progress MAKING A SELF ASSESMENT: Knowing me is the most critical step in making appropriate life choices. The better I understand myself and the better I can articulate my strengths to others, the better career decisions I will make. In deciding upon a career, it is typically recommended that I reflect on and define myself: • Attitudes and values • Personality • Skills and abilities • Interests After I have compiled a detailed Personal Profile, some clear options will emerge for me. It's important to remember that the self-exploration process does not necessarily point me to a specific job, but rather to potential fields of interest that I can investigate more closely during the Career Exploration phase. It suggests
