Unit 5 – P1 Define key terms associated with a healthy lifestyle Fitness Having a healthy lifestyle doesn’t only affect the way you look or feel it affects four key terms, these are your fitness, health, well being, nutrition and lifestyle. If you are trying to lead a healthy lifestyle your fitness is probably the most important thing to work on. Working on your fitness will ensure your using and working your body to the best of its ability which will benefit you in the long run. To improve your fitness you don’t have to necessary go for two hour runs everyday all you need to do is simply boost your levels of general daily activity, doing this can have a massive improvement on your health and energy. Your fitness is important because it has a major affect on your way of life.

Increasing physical activity levels Physical activity doesn't need to be complicated. Something as simple as a daily brisk walk can help you live a healthier life. For example, regular brisk walking can help you: • Maintain a healthy weight • Prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes • Strengthen your bones • Lift your mood • Improve your balance and coordination The faster, farther and more frequently you walk, the greater the benefits.

Health promotion can be effective in this group if it is adapted properly. Health promotion interventions include proper education to promote how to stop smoking and tobacco, healthy eating habit, promoting physical exercise in all population even in all school elementary schools. The benefit of health promotion intervention is to improve good quality of healthy living and prevent or reduce illness, sickness or diseases. The minority groups are encouraged to participate in every step by step in every intervention to be able to improve health promotion. In my personal life, the modifiable risk factors that apply to me are, stress diet, and exercise. Some steps that I can take to eliminate stress in my life are, to keep stress at bay, get enough sleep, eating right, and exercise. By getting the required amount of sleep, I need each night, my body will be able to fully function without wearing down. Eating a well-balanced healthy diet will allow me to get the vitamins and minerals my body requires to stay healthy. Incorporating physical activity into my daily life is, also a very important choice that I can make in my life to decrease my modifiable risk factors for diabetes.

I plan on living a much healthier and fulfilling life. I am the only one that has the power to change my life and thanks to this class I now have the knowledge and tools that I need to live a much healthier lifestyle. I just need to utilize them. I want to live as long as I can and be healthy so that I can play with and enjoy my grandkids. Being healthy will only increase my happiness and being happy is important to both my mental and physical well being.
