Language Department Language Arts Lies we don’t want to know Once in our lives we have heard our parents or a teacher telling us lying is bad, that no matter what, the truth is always the answer, but in reality telling the truth can hurt as much as lying, people get affected by it. We as a society always brag about how important telling the truth is, when in fact we are not ready to hear it. According to the dictionary the meaning of ‘Truth’ is the true facts about something, rather than the things that have been invented or guessed, and of course it’s better to tell the truth than lying, but the truth can hurt as much as telling a lie and we are not ready to hear it if we react in a bad way. In the story ‘like the sun’ we see a man only saying the truth for a day, and instead of getting nice treats for doing the right thing, he gets bad consequences. Sekhar’s boss asks him to come to his house with him and tell him his truthful opinion on his singing, telling him that he can have 10 days to check the tests, but in that moment he needed to focus on his music “Well, you must listen with a free mind.
While reading Thomas Paine’s The Age of Reason, it is apparent that one can question their true faith and where their beliefs really come from. From Paine it brought many questions of my loyalties lie and where my faith comes from. Throughout life, from time to time, questions of what is true from the Lord can be muddy. With this writing, there are many contradictions, false facts, and inconsistent thoughts. Paine’s main thesis discussed in the writing was his open mindedness for others to accept other religions and not blindly follow other people with that they believe.
Sometimes this information may be of a personal nature or simply not relevant to other people. Information of this kind is called 'confidential' and as professionals we are expected to recognise situations when information is likely to be confidential and to ensure that such information is not passed on to others. As a general rule, you should consider that all information gained during the course of your work is confidential, this means anything that you would not be able to find out as a member of the public is likely to be confidential. In addition, most settings now have a confidentiality policy and you must read and follow
* Referent power – generally known as personal power or charisma and comes from the high regard the individual is held by others should this falter or wane then this form of power vanishes, but is often employed in conjunction with other sources. Other sources of power include knowledge and personal contacts and alliances. Power is not the same as leadership, nor is it the same as authority. Conducting an appraisal is fraught with dangers for both the appraiser and appraise. Key amongst these is a failure to recognise
Telling the truth to somebody, a person, a group, co-workers or anybody can backfire in the persons face. A lot of people say they want to hear the truth but not everybody can handle the truth. This affects the people actually speaking the truth, there so nervous to tell it that when it does come out they hope for good reactions and a positive outlook. The last thing the person wants is to be bashed by the person, a lot people think that the person it effects is hurting the most but actually the person telling the truth goes through more. They go through the feeling of “why did I say it?” and they shouldn’t feel like that, they should be happy that they don’t have to lie or cover anything up anymore.
The basic communication principle I apply to my personal life experience is knowing my audience and communicating a little at a time. I believe by knowing and interacting with a person before I just say what’s on my mind.I believe by knowing the person’s attitude and belief will help me be better prepared to answer questions they might want to ask me whenever we strike up a conversation. I also feel the results these results are a accurate description of my personality and communication style. I am a introverted person and I see this plays a factor when I talk to strangers. Yet, I do know how important and how good it can feel to connect with someone new.
One of my good friends seems to be fond of the idea of arguing. It had seemed like every single time I would voice an opinion on a situation or idea, she had to think or feel the complete opposite of my statement. Most of the time I thought it was just on purpose, and it didn’t make me want to argue back. All it made me want to do was drop the subject. If she had had more specific reason as to why she disagreed with me, maybe it wouldn’t have turned me away as quickly and easily.
As much as you want to trust a friend, or a family member, you never know if they have a hidden agenda. You may think you know someone so well until things go drastically wrong. And it is proven here that you cannot trust anyone but
We don’t do things for a reward in heaven but we do them because the sign of Heaven is already inside of us. With faith and works we need to not do it for salvation but do it because God is working inside of us. The works that we do is the outworking of the faith that is inside of us. By not doing good works that we have been called to do we are potentially pushing down the work of God that is inside of us. Lewis’ view here is so true.
Know what you believe in and be gracious in conversation with others. Listening to other viewpoints does not mean you agree but you may be able to understand how the other person feels. I feel taking the time to listen quietly to others is a first step in our private lives to prevent arguments or heated debates. I was checking the Thesaurus for ideas on replacement words for this essay and ironically enough this is what I found: discussion= conversation, debate, argument, dialogue, chat, talk Argument= quarrel, fight, disagreement, dispute, row, spat, squabble, contention This is amazing, apparently we can choose different words but all comes full circle and we land back in the argument culture. The first step is to follow Tannin's advice and stop and look at all sides.
