Secondary Education, the Gateway to Success

Not many years ago it was rare for people to finish high school yet along go to college. I remember not too long ago that if you had a bachelor’s degree you were set, but today in the declining economy this has changed. In this economy it is a must that you have higher education to have success. I agree with this statement completely. Nothing in this world is given to you; you have to work hard to get anything you want. In order to grasp success the first thing that is needed is higher education. I am not saying that everyone has to go to a university. There are many other options such as Technical school to get a trade. Everyone should consider some form of higher education so that may provide for themselves and families in a sufficient manner. There are many unemployed people in this world today and fewer jobs so that means more competition. With some form of higher education you can have a better advantage over people that don’t have a college degree and you can be more qualified for promotions within your job. Higher education serves as the entrance to better options and more opportunity. “The importance of a college education is also accentuated because of the opportunity to gain valuable resources during your tenure. The more connections which are collected during your college career, the more options you will have when you begin your job search” (“Importance of College Education” 3). In college you gain much more than academic knowledge you gain experience, connections and much more common sense than you should already have. Many colleges help you find a job before you finish to assure your success. Secondary Education adds value to yourself for example in the workforce you are more valuable with a bachelor’s degree than a high school diploma and you are more valuable with a master’s degree than with a bachelor’s degree and so on.
