Maureen Hannan Philip G. Zimbardo's article, Does Psychology Make a Significant Difference in Our Lives?, discusses the ways psychological research,theory, methods, and practices affected the lives of individuals, communities, and nations. After relaying scholarly information about himself Zimbardo presents the contributions psychology has already made to our lives. The contributions include psychological testing and assessment, positive reinforcement, psychological therapies, self-directed change, parenting tips, treatment for psychological stress, and decreasing prejudice and discrimination. According to the author, psychology testing and assessment contributes to our lives by developing and depending on tests like the SAT and Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery to measure human talents, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Psychology brings about positive reinforcement with its emphasis on only punishing bad behavior.
The social worker are required to make visits to the home daycares and childcare facilities twice a week. The information on the spreadsheet consisted of the vendor’s name, address, date, and social worker’s name. On these visits the workers check for cleanliness, safety and made sure that each center or home had the proper amount of children registered and attending their daycare program. This information is viewed weekly by the unit’s supervisors and again by the Chief of Service. This spreadsheet is also use when we are audited by the state.
Through research I have found that my ideal job with these qualities is a Psychologist. There are many different fields of Psychology, but the field that appeals to me is a Social Psychologist. These types of Psychologist examine a person or groups of people’s behavior using experimenting and researching.They also study how people deal with each other and how they deal with the world around them. Psychologists study kinds of religious, political, educational, and family groups. In addition, they may teach at Universities or work for private companies or work in the government.
Personal Theory Renee Bailly CJHS/400 June 25, 2015 Cayla Flowers Personal Theory At the conclusion of this course, Theories and Practices: Human Services in Criminal Justice, I can say I learned a lot about the various theories of psychotherapy in counseling. Some of these theories operate on the basis of recognizing errors in thinking and correcting those errors. Other theories focus on multiculturalism and the fact that all clients are unique and deserve to be treated as such. The textbook literature and discussions with class mates gave insight needed to create my own intervention theory. When creating my personal theory, I chose to involve both cognitive and multicultural approaches.
