When taken out of cages their bones are so fragile they tend to break. Male chicks are no value to the industry so they are killed at birth. Hens cages are stacked in rows on top of each other so thousands of birds can be housed together with approximately five to eleven birds in each cage. Their is not much human contact, Birds fall out of cages, get stuck between them and end up dying from having no access to food or water. With waste accumulating, ammonia can cause burns to the animals skin, eyes and respiratory tracts.
English 101 George Orwell Report October 8, 2013 Civil Duties A Closer look at George Orwell’s “ Shooting an Elephant” Growing up in a third world country is quite difficult. Since you do not have much of anything, you will have to find happiness in the little things so to speak. For an example seeing an elephant around can bring some joy to you. You will never expect to seeing one of these gentle giant to go on a murderous rampage. If you ever see an elephant kill someone from your community and then the death of the majestic beast it will always be a black day in your past.
Buggy horses are tortured every day, just to die a disgusting death at the slaughterhouse the horse will be sent to when it cannot fight anymore. Allowing the Amish to continue to abuse these horses should be against the law. Using horses as vehicles is ignorant as well as idiotic. It is not safe, and there are other transportation methods that can be available to the Amish. With the technology today, horses are no longer required for the Amish to get to where they want to go.
I found the story very difficult to support, mainly because of the way he stereotyped animal rights. He uses pathos to explain his view point of the issue and a lot of logical fallacies along the way. Such slippery slope when he says “we must leave animals free - to overrun and destroy our property, to eat our food, even to kill our children” and he uses pathos when he stated that he is a pure man-hatred that has no limited to a few leader in notion of animal “rights”. Throughout this story, the writer gives wrong evidence. He tries to prove how animal testing affects animals, but the evidence that he gives us was some kind of violence and lacking police protection.
The formal definition of a puppy mill is a large scale breeding operation that produces a large amount of puppies for profit. What this definition is missing is that puppy mills are inhumane in their treatment of breeding dogs and puppies. Many are filthy, they are run by people who have no idea about or concern for the genetic implications of breeding or about what dogs require in terms of basic health care and socialization. Many are simply hellholes in which the breeding dogs are kept in the most deplorable conditions. Dogs confined in small wire cages for their entire lives, fed inadequately, kept in unheated buildings, and denied basic veterinary care.
Mill dogs may live exclusively outside, where they are exposed to environmental conditions which harm them, or conversely live entirely indoors in cages. Because dogs at puppy mills are racked with health problems, their healthy lives and breeding years tend to be significantly shorter than those of other dogs. (ASPCA) This problem, coupled with the limited space at puppy mills commonly results in mass euthanasia once the dogs move past the age where they can sustain the rate of overactive production at which they are expected to
(killerwhale.org) Furthermore, they have concluded that any scientific study of orcas would be best done in their natural habitat verse aquariums. Multiple factors would affect their behaviors and many concerns have been brought to peoples attention about the effects orcas face by leaving the wild. One concern for orcas that are born in the wild then taken into captivity is that they live in pods, and their families operate much as if a human family would, with strong attachments and emotions. Tearing these creatures away from their family members has much to do with the psychological effect on them. Several incidents have been reported over the past years that make people question the continued captivity of orcas.
Consequently, by removing man from the scene, the animals pave their own path towards evil. In the end, the pigs become the source of evil and prove that removing man from the farm does not remove the problems of the animals. The pigs show that animals are also capable of evil and show that Old Majors beliefs are wrong. In the end, the animal’s problems remain and by removing man, the animals make space for another evil to come in and bring them more suffering. Unfortunately, the animals do not realize that the real evil lies within their own ignorance and their failure to accept their problems.
These birds wouldn’t be come stressed if we banned these factories for good. What happens to the 250 million male chickens born in the U.S egg industry? Along with defective and slow-hatching female chicks, the male chickens are trashed as soon as they are hatched. Males are also not used in the broiler industry. The male birds are disposed and killed at birth.
