Alex Klug English 1118 Professor Flaig 10/24/09 Fortinbras’ Importance to ‘Hamlet’ In the story of Hamlet, both Young Hamlet and Young Fortinbras lose their father’s. Few years before, Hamlet’s father, the dead King Hamlet, invaded Fortinbras’ country of Norway and took territory from them by force. Hamlet’s father was later killed by his brother, Claudius, and assumed position as King as well as marrying the formerly widowed Queen Gertrude. Eventually, both Young Fortinbras and Young Hamlet avenged their fathers’ deaths. Young Fortinbras did this through asserting himself and his military to action, and invading the then troubled Denmark.
Wallace was only a child when it happened, now he had become and orphan. Resentment for the British starts to build up inside of him and gets a chance to be released when his wife is attacked by the British soldiers. Another common archetype would be of the Loyal Retainers. These men help to bring out the courageous and brave nature of the hero in his struggle for freedom. In the film these retainers are his loyal soldiers who stand by him all the way to the end.
He was brought up being told war stories of his father fighting for Germany and all the glory and honours surrounding it as he quotes in the story “My father is a patriot a true German”. His father was high up in the ranks of the army and we can suspect Erich aspired to rise to his position one day. I western culture we can find most people want a father figures respect and strive to make them proud more than any other family member which is why he did not listen to his sister’s pleas not to go to
HISTORY HOLIDAY HOMEWORK ISHMAEL BEAH- CHILD SOLDIER After watching the interview of Ishmael Beah about child soldier I think that being a child soldier is a hard job. Before being a child soldier, childrens had normal life but then it changes quickly. They got separated from their family. They see war for the first time. There are murders running down with their babies behind their back that have been shot and they didn’t even know cause they were running from this war, fathers carrying their dead sons in their arms.
Though, the story’s ending is ironic due to the sniper recognizing that the enemy killed was his brother. The greater irony is that all the sniper’s enemies of the Free State happen to be his brothers, for they were all once together as one army. In a deeper perspective, all men are brothers being that they are descendants of Adam and Eve. O’Flaherty uses symbolism in regards to the sniper and his brother to any war where one person killed another. It illustrates how despicable the human race can be when one member of it takes the life of

Like all movies there is a focus, and the group of soldiers, mainly Tom Hanks’ character, are whose footsteps we follow through throughout the movie. This film is based off of true historical events, as most of us know, World War II and how incredibly gruesome it was, of how the soldiers fought and died and how they coped with what they went through. At the beginning of the movie, we see an old man walking through a maze of graves, obviously from the war, but we do not know who this man is and whose grave he is looking for. Then we see a heavy number of combat-boats carrying soldiers, and we can sense the tension of almost what exactly is going on. We see soldiers of many ages; almost all have faces filled with fear and anxiety while some are vomiting or praying.
James Stewart was one of the best actors of the 1950’s. He had many charactistic that know one in Holly Wood. I think James Stewart was very successful in his movie career because, he was soft spoken and he believed that he could do any role that came his way. While I was growing up I watched two movies that James Stewart was in. The first movie was Vertigo.
