When drivers get all exasperated they become irrational, and irrational people do dumb things without thinking. The “nervous wreck” drivers don’t know how to react to road rage and people going crazy around them. I think that driving in the left lane slow is a hazard, regardless of what the slow driver thinks. From personal experience, when someone drives slowly in the left lane, people start to use their horns. People start to curse and get all infuriated.
For example, when Ponyboy is walking home from the movie theatre he is worried about getting jumped. “Greasers can’t walk alone too much or they’ll get jumped or someone will scream Greaser at them”. He thinks that all Socs are cruel, rich kids who like to pick on Greasers for fun. He thinks this partly from experience and partly because that’s what is expected of him. Ponyboys views begin to change when he meets Cherry Valance.
It is dangerous to do this because of the snow, but both think it is fun because it is risky. The boy says “We drove away from the resort, right up to the barricade. ‘ Move it,’ my father told me,”(212) which would be them breaking the law to have a little fun.
They made it very unapparent to everyone of how much trouble they actually got into. This group of guys participated in truancy, drinking, wild driving, petty theft, cheating in school and vandalism almost daily. They would lie to their teachers and make excuses to get of class as early as they could every day and performing horrible pranks was their favorite activity. The Saints were really smart about how they went about engaging in such wild behavior; they made “legitimate” excuses to miss class and went out of town to conspire their pranks. According to the Labeling Theory, deviance isn't deviant unless specified by society.
Why are teenagers the way there are What is wrong with teenagers? JD Salinger shows a rough time as a teenager in the book Catcher in the Rye. Holden Caulfield is a normal teenager going through a rough patch in his life causing him to make bad decisions. Teenager’s minds are not always fully connected, meaning we make dumb choices. “I’ve taken this car through worse than that.” (57) The storyteller is so sure that he and his father will be caught for going past the barricades. But when the son’s emotions peak it seems as though he melts into the moment and rolls with what is happening, enjoying the recklessness that comes so natural to his father. The storyteller’s father always riding the edge in his life and marriage, putting his son in danger, including him in his spur-of-the-moment actions until the boy catches the father’s fever.
One of the biggest causes of drunk driving is the person who hasn’t adequately prepared for the situation. They drive to the bar or party alone and end up drinking more than they had planned without thinking about how they’ll get home. Many drinkers, at this point, become too embarrassed to ask for a ride or underage drinkers are afraid they’ll get in trouble if they reveal they made a mistake. Others simply don’t care. They hear about the deaths and injuries and are aware of the risks and the potential
The second reason being it would stop most kids from at least drinking and driving which is the main concern here. Also that depending on the cops sense of humor it would be hilarious to watch a bunch of people yak it everywhere, but that's just a personal opinion. I think this solution could have a lot of humor behind it and if it does make the officers laugh, relieve them from stress of other problems they might be having on the job. In the real life the situation is being solved by cops getting more ways to get the right to invade your privacy. There's all kinds of ways for them to trick you or get around certain situations so that they can bust you for drinking.
