When talking about homosexual vs. heterosexual unions, they are comparable in all ways; however, legalizing them together would cause irrevocable damage to our already weak view of the institution of marriage. Our young generation is in a time where they are being told how to speak and sometimes think, and societal indifference to gay marriage would further confuse our youths who already find their sexuality hard. It is very important that we continue to take strides toward accepting homosexual unions; however, legalizing gay marriage is not a necessary step for that to
When did “homosexual advocacy” become a problem in our schools? I think hate and hate-mongering is the problem, don’t you? Of course “True Tolerance” offers “tips on communicating with your school officials.” Because I’m sure there are a ton of principals who — amidst budget cuts, a renewed focus on education, and a brand new school year — are dying to hear from parents who just woke up and imagined a “homosexual agenda” that is creeping into their children’s classrooms. Talk about creating fear and hysteria where none should exist. What Focus on the
In typical cases, the most frequently used form of aggression is physical aggression, such as hitting or any kind of physical harm. Homosexual domestic violence does not happen as frequently as it would in a heterosexual case. In the article “Invisible Victims: Same Sex Intimate Partner Violence in the National Violence Against Women Survey”, Messinger (2011) developed an experiment, consisting of 14,182 participants, both heterosexual and homosexual, that were either abused by their partner, or were the abuser themselves. In this survey the participants were asked to fill out a survey that consisted of questions relating to four specific types of intimate violence; verbal, sexual, physical, and controlling. The results of the survey showed that the overwhelming majority of abusers and victims who were involved in verbal and controlling form of domestic violence were homosexual partners.
Homosexuality is a result of the person’s environment and how they are brought up as a child. Unfortunately some children are more damaged than others growing up from a result of their parents’ lack of parenting skills or lack of nurture. Alternatively, a child may grow up in a perfectly “normal” household but still turn out to be homosexual with no trace of homosexuality in that family tree. Either environment whether good or bad, has shaped that person to turn out a certain way. People have choices and you are who you are by the choices you make and the experiences you have in life.
If people demand the extension of marriage to include same sex unions in a state arguing it is unconstitutional, but the court deems it as constitutional, then a statute is in place for future cases to be based on. Once a statute is in place, it becomes more difficult to upturn the initial ruling. Also, because of religious ties, there are a large number of people who are against same sex marriage. As a result, a vote to change marriage laws in a state must come at a time when the majority of votes will not be against it. If the majority of people vote against same sex marriage, then it shows that is not an important issue and future votes may not be called for due to the large number of people against it.
For example, in the article “Should All Convicted Sex Offenders Be Required to Register?” by Josh Farley, the sex offender here was required to register as one for the sexual/mutual relationship he had with a minor while in his 30s. Okay, the child was under 18, but he is not to blame for a sexual relationship that both parties agreed to at the time. I hate to say it, but unfortunately a lot of children make these “grown-up” decisions without understanding the consequences, and to get them out of “trouble” they blame the “other guy”, which in most cases, like this one, the “other guy” is the one who pays because of what laws state. Even though the child knew what was going on and wanted to engage in a sexual relationship with this man, the adult gets charged because the child didn’t want to take responsibility so they used the easy way out and played victim. Of course one may argue, she was 15 and didn’t know what she was doing.
The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 needs to be amended once again if we are to keep our children safe in these perilous times. A recent study has shown that the majority of child sexual crimes are committed by relatives and/or friends (Steinbock). Knowing these criminals are in our communities does not deter them from committing this heinous crime against children. According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, there are 603,000 registered sex offenders in the U.S. and another100, 000 sexual offenders are noncompliant, and many are simply missing. “One in five girls and one in ten boys will be sexually victimized in some way before they reach the age of 18.
Depression and suicide goes back to preteens/children not being emotionally or physiologically mature enough to have sex. Since many young people will have sex to show the other partner that they “love” them, when in reality it isn't love and often leaves one of the two heartbroken which may lead to depression. Meeker also discuses obscene rap lyrics, lurid reports of teen orgies and the high school "craze" for oral sex and blames: post-60s permissiveness, the misguided association of condoms with safety and sexualized media imagery and gives examples of, the popular magazine Cosmopolitan and television series Ally McBeal. In the end her
Sexually transmitted diseases are rampant among teenagers and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported in 2009 that there are 19 million new STD infections each year and almost half of them are among youth aged 15 to 24. Abstinence only education is the only 100% effective method of preventing un-intended pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases (CDC, 2009). According to the National Coalition for Abstinence Education there is miss information given to the public causing people to believe that abstinence only education does not address contraceptive use and STD’s and that information is false (NCAE, 2010). Abstinence only programs do address STD’s but they do so honestly by showing the failure rates for “safe-sex” methods in disease prevention, including the failure rates for the use of condoms (NCAE,
Do children raised by homosexual parents have a psychological or sociological difference when compared to those children who are raised by non-homosexual parents? There are many forms that take place when it comes to raising children in same sex homes and many people are not aware of this fact which brings about prejudice as well as discrimination when children are involved in such diversity. It is a concern that the absence of a father in the home is harmful for the children most of which are the sons of the household who need to have a masculine role model in their life for mental and emotional health. According to Carpenter, M. (2007) “children do best with a mother and a father.” However, others see it as fathers do not have to be the only masculine role model in a child’s life. For example, other role models could include uncles, brothers, as well as grandfathers.
