The building most closely associated with NYC is the Skyscraper; in fact NY is the city with the most skyscrapers in the world. NYC has about 110 km2 of parkland and 22 km of public beaches. The most visited park in USA is Central Park in
Challenges of self to future practice (examples). (b). Personalised knowledge. 1- I can start in talking about the different types of knowledge in social work (use Trevithick’s framework to categorise the different types of knowledge). 2- Then, it narrow down to personal knowledge.
Perhaps the most intriguing mis-pronunciation is that of our home province. People not from there enunciate the word well pronouncing it, “Sask-atch-chew-won” whereas locals say it “Skatchyin”. It is possible that people moving into the city have a more difficult time learning to speak like a Flatlander than learning to speak
The purpose of this Landscape Analysis Project is to explore and analyze a landscape. Three dimensions of the landscape will be investigated, namely the physical landscape, the political/economic landscape and the cultural landscape. This study is organized using these three dimensions; however understanding the linkages and connections between dimensions is critical to understanding the landscape. 1) Find at least two definitions of landscape and cite the source: My first definition is a section or expanse of rural scenery, usually extensive, that can be seen from a single viewpoint (Websters Dictionary, 2011). The second definition states a landscape is an expanse of scenery that can be seen in a single view (Miller, 1995) 2) In
‘Urban areas have a significant impact on climatic characteristics’ Discuss the statement [40] An urban area is a region surround a city; they include the surrounding areas as well as the city itself. High population density and vast human features in comparison to the surrounding areas are characteristics of urban areas. Other characteristics include transport links and high rise buildings for dwelling and working. Due to the vast number of urban areas, the activities of these areas will obviously have some effect on the climatic characteristics, but I will attempt to answer how significant the effects are and if there are any other contributing factors. Urban heat island climates usually occur in more built up urban areas.

(Neuman,2005)The environmental aspects of urban consolidation is quite different with in developing the form of urban sprawl. In high density areas, there is only a few natural vegetations, which include trees and grasslands and etc, are found within the buildings, roads, and parking areas. So it makes harder for the inner suburb to have a cleaner environment without planting large amount of vegetations. To sum up, it has both problems and benefits by developing the urban consolidation but the advantages of consolidation is more convincing , making th consolidation form as a more sustainable and livable plan
although for the most of its residents, the biggest advantage is convenience of living, working, shopping in the same area. An example is living in the city, where your home is closer to the workplace, a shopping center on the way makes saving time and fuel easy. The advantage for the business-minded, looking to expand business, can find a real estate agent to locate property, a banker to finance it, contractor to build, even a great restaurant to wine and dine potential clients all in the same block downtown. For many parents that have busy professional careers outside the home, the advantage of being closer to work affords them more time to spend with the family, and less time on the road. Children are also closer to schools, parks, friends and soccer practice.
I believe that the top three environmental issues are; air pollution, lack of green space, and lack of public transportation systems. Nowadays, I see less green space around the houses and in the neighborhood and one of the reasons could be because of compact houses and less out door space. Air pollution is a huge environmental issue because it can lead to poor health. Pollution also affects the environment and looking at the research I realized the forests, US National Wildlife Refuse, and environmental recreation areas are far from the cities and it could be because of the pollution. One of the biggest reasons for pollution is lack of public transportation.
Counter–urbanisation question ( 40 marks ) Counter-urbanisation is the movement of people from major cities or large town’s (e.g St. Ives in Cambridgeshire) to less urbanised and rural areas beyond the outer suburbs. The main reason that counter-urbanisation takes place is because of the push and pulls factors that are associated with it. Some of the main push factors associated with counter-urbanisation are that people want a better quality of living; they want to be able to live in an clean and quiet environment without air and noise pollution; they wish to escape the high levels of traffic congestion; and they want to escape the dirt and crime that urban environment offers e.g London City Centre. Furthermore, most people aspire to have larger houses with more land or large gardens for lower and cheaper prices when compared to the urban areas which have seen a huge increase in price over the past ten years, resulting in poorer or low income families struggling to afford the houses. Finally, large companies such as American Air Filters have set up factories in rural areas making it more attractive for people to relocate to the area e.g Cramlington.
