When informed of the suicides, the first suspect was Capulet, Juliet’s father. Witnesses overheard a fight between Juliet and Capulet concerning Juliet marrying Paris (Act three, Scene Five). Other actions and by Juliet’s father could have been an impact on the suicides of Romeo and Juliet. Capulet allegedly was forcing Juliet to marry Paris. Capulet was overheard to say: ‘hang thee young baggage disobedient wretch’ ‘O heavens!
One difference is the two that were caught cheating were punished: the men back then were beheaded, while the women were hung upside down and burned also known as: Heaven Lamp. Mu Ying is the center of attention in China; she has become the whore of the town. White Cat who narrates the story explains how his grandma and other elderly women feel about those who sleep around, “‘This time they ought to burn Old Whore on Heaven Lamp’” (213). Heaven Lamp is dignified as justice from Heaven; only the townspeople are getting justice. Instead of those harsh sentences the people now have Red Guards who come and take the women out of their house and make the adulteress admit to all of her crimes in front of the whole town: “‘Folks, we’ve gathered here today to denounce Mu Ying, who is
Only a teenager can really relate to this because Holden was not straight with his parents, every teenager has lied to their parents at some point. This is a bad choice because as a minor Holden is hurting his future by smoking that young. Another thing that is not a good idea is buying a prostitute, “five bucks a throw. Fifteen bucks the whole night” (p.91). Holden was bored and wide awake in his hotel room in New York.
In that event, the audience can see that Romeo is acting solely on his grief and rage, and not thinking about what the consequences might be afterwards. Romeo then gets exiled, which is another trigger to the tragic ending, where Juliet fakes her own death in order to run away, resulting
Holden’s Analysis The transcript that I chose was from a book called “A Catcher In The Rye”. I chose the section in the book where the star of the book Holden, just got a prostitute and she is entering his hotel room. He starts to back down and make excuses not to have to sleep with her. I chose this section because so far in the book this is the only section in the book that has caught my attention because it’s so shocking. During the script Holden’s tone very nervous.
She says “and fill me, from the crown to the toe, top-full of direst cruelty! Make thick my blood…”( act 1 scene 2) Lady Macbeth asks this so that she can free herself from the guilt or remorse she expects to feel for the deed she hopes to fulfill. Also, the feeling of guilt is symbolized by blood after Macbeth has killed Duncan. He asks, “Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? "(act 2, scene 3) This is an example of blood representing guilt because Macbeth wishes he could just wash away his immense feeling of guilt.
She drank the poison, her fake death began. Friar Lawrence sent a message about Juliet’s fake death to Romeo in mantua but the message did not arrived before he got news about Juliet’s death. Romeo went to Juliet’s tomb, there he also drank poison and died beside Juliet. When Juliet woke up from her fake death, she saw Romeo’s lifeless body and killed herself with a thrust of the knife. The picture above shows Romeo and Juliet when they were alive.
Macbeth now kills without thinking or lifting a hair on his arm. This is clear in Act 4 scene 2 when Macbeth sends for the murder of Lady Macduff and her son. This marks the moment of Macbeth’s utter madness, he no longer is killing for political gain or to get rid of an enemy, but simply out of the desire to do harm and evil. However, Lady Macbeth’s guilt drives her to utter madness in a different direction. She now sleepwalks and always has a delusional belief that she has blood on her hands.
He says, It took me quite a while to get to sleep- I wasn’t even tired- but finally I did. (104) Holden had a quarrel with Maurice that night about a prostitute and how Holden didn’t pay her enough money. Holden feels sorry for the woman because when she got there he didn’t feel like having sex with her, especially because before she showed up he wasn’t even sure he wanted to give up his virginity at all. Holden is indecisive about all the things he should have his mind made up on, which partly explains why he has such a problem sleeping. If Holden could simply clear his mind for once, he would be able to get a good
Juliet was so distracted by the needs of herself and Romeo that she tried to kill herself three times: first when Romeo is banished, then again to avoid marrying Paris, and finally when she stabbed herself. “If I profane with my unworthiest hand this holy shrine, the gentle sin is this, my lips… O then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do, they pray: grant thou, lest faith turn into despair.” (1.5.104-107…114-115). This shows that Romeo wasn’t able to live without Juliet; he couldn’t even go a day without kissing her. They also believed that they weren’t good enough for the other. For example, Romeo always kept Juliet on a pedestal.
