Juliet was being pushed by her mother to accept Paris’ courtship during the party the Capulets had. At this ball, Romeo met Juliet and it was love it for sight. Romeo fell in love for Juliet and couldn’t stay away from her and then he proposed to her the same day he met her. After the party, Juliet found out that her parents where going to marry her off to Paris, she was devastated because she just heard that Romeo wanted to marry her the next day. She wanted to marry someone that she would be able to love, she did not love Paris.
Romeo had been obsessed with a girl named Rosaline. He found out that she was going to appear in this party and the Capulets(His family’s enemy) so he decided to go to the party in hope of seeing her. When he got there, she was nowhere to be found and sulked off to an empty part of the large Capulet house. As he was walking about, his eyes met another pair of eyes, those of Juliet’s. As they were about to speak, Juliet’s mother called for her and she was hurried to her. Romeo forgot about his obsession with Rosaline because he had a new obsession with Juliet. He doesn’t know much about the women he is obsessed with but he goes to extreme lengths just to be with her.
Fryer Lawerance’s Plan:
Fryer Lawerance came up with a plan to keep Romeo and Juliet together, not because their families were at war but because Romeo was banished from Verona for killing Tybalt (Juliet’s cousin). The Fryer’s plan was to keep Romeo in hiding for a few days while Juliet would take a liquid that the Fryer made to induce her into a coma for a few hours, long enough to deceive everyone that she was dead, including Paris who was meant to be marry Juliet that day. While this was happening, the Fryer would send a letter to Romeo, telling him about his plans to keep them together.
