Roles and Responsibilties of Teacher

Theory Task 1 There are many roles and responsibilities that I must fulfil to ensure that effective learning takes place. My role as a trainer is much more than simply standing up in front of a group of learners and delivering the session, and my responsibilities extend far beyond successfully transferring my knowledge or skill to the learner. Below are some of my roles and responsibilities. ➢ Completing attendance records ➢ Ensuring a safe learning environment ➢ Keeping up to date records of learners progress and achievement ➢ Having a duty of care for learners ➢ Developing interesting ways of delivering learning ➢ Conducting tutorials and reviews with learners ➢ Acting within professional codes of conduct ➢ Prepare courses, sessions and delivery material ➢ Act as a role model ➢ Mark, asses, evaluate and give feedback on work ➢ Refer learners to other agencies as appropriate The above roles and responsibilities will be applicable to varying extents throughout the my daily and weekly tasks depending where I currently am in relation to the training cycle. The training cycle has five key stages ➢ Identify needs ➢ Plan and design ➢ Deliver / facilitate ➢ Assess ➢ Evaluate Wilson ( 2008, p15 ) sums up this by stating ‘The training cycle is a continuous process, which can be joined at any point, but needs to be followed through to be effective’ During the “Identify needs” stage my role is to discover the needs of both the organisation and the learner. I do this at the very beginning using a pre course information form or I ask the learner to complete an Initial assessment and guidance ( IAG ) form I also continue to identify their needs throughout the sessions through tutorials and formative assessments.
