ROLE OF PERSONALITY IN CAREER DECISION MAKING In this modern world, when there are ample of career choices, adolescents face difficulty in settling down the storm of career opportunities available with them. Often, they find themselves confused and are in the phase of turmoil. They are clueless about WHAT THEY SHOULD DO? At that point, personality plays a major role and is a great savior. Personality refers to the individual differences in patterns of thinking, feeling and behavior. Every individual is unique and so do their career choices and attitude towards career. According to various models, there are different types of vocational personalities which could make individuals better predisposed to certain occupations. This fundamental underlying hypothesis is that people will have the most job satisfaction in occupations that match their personality type and so tend to chose career that is reflective of their personality. People can function and develop best and find satisfaction in the work environment that is compatible with their personality. The present paper discusses what role personality has in one’s life in career decision making process.
