Essentials of the law are to make common sense, by applying rules and regulation to make sure is followed. Ethics can be also enforced by law. Furthermore, the law has huge influence on successful operation of business and society as well as the efficiency of that society. The law supply ethical standards and expectation, while providing rules of conduct, measures to enforce those rules (Melisa Bushman 2007). Within this paper the subject is to discussed, what role and function plays law in business and society. Roles of the Law Despite of the fact that law plays several roles in business and society, the most evident role it plays in classification such as Public and Private Law, Criminal and Civil Law, Substantive Law. Those law classifications are important to keep it organized for better control and regulations. Public and Private Law is a government law that deals with individuals, such as public laws which includes constitutional law and criminal law. Furthermore, private law is the law that deals mostly with relation with other individuals and contracts of private law. However, the Criminal Law is more concerned with punishment of crimes, where the criminal law prosecutes people and charges with criminal incarceration or fines. Civil law is responsible for the private partied organizations or other government parties. Momentary compensation is one of the compensation when penalties for breaking the civil law include compensation of the wronged party. “Substantive law creates rights, duties, obligations and cause of action that can be enforced by law” (Melissa Bushman, 2007). Furthermore, in addition to law classifications, the United States also explains two classifications of courts which can be identified as the federal court and a state court (Melissa Bushman 2007).
