The Rick Santorum political ad commercial Rebellion, which aired for the 2012 elections, takes place in a factory where voters are lined up waiting for blindfolds. It's almost like an assembly line. The political cartoon is in black and white. There is a security guard making sure that the voters are doing what they are told. The people are being brainwashed into voting for moderate candidates. The narrator mentions controversial topics about Mitt Romney to get voters' attention. He states that we need to stop voting for the liberal side because the "establishment" has brainwashed us to. The government wants the election to go the way they want it to. They do not want our voice to be heard. Then a brightly dressed woman runs to the front of the line while the security guard tries to stop her. She holds up a sign that has Santorum's name on it and flips it over where he is speaking. Santorum's political ad uses controversial topics that arouse strong, inflamed opinions rather than focusing on issues that relate to economic and foreign policy to explain exigence, audience, and constraints.  
Exigency is either a case or situation in which prompt action is required. The exigence used for this ad is the cliff. The commercial is in black and white which makes it feel dark and somber, until a brightly dressed woman changes the whole mood and atmosphere of the scene. It scares people into thinking they that will "fall off a cliff" if they vote for the wrong person. The ad frames Santorum as the savior of the people. He is bringing them from black and white to color and giving the voters the power to choose. The exigence in this ad is also the 2012 Presidential Elections and all the candidates are using political ads to attract voters and to promote their beliefs. Santorum wants people to vote for him instead of Romney for the Republican nomination.
