The lack of stimulation in early childhood development centres in underdeveloped/informal settlements. i) Any problem in a community of your choice: The lack of stimulation in early childhood development centre’s in underdeveloped or informal settlements. The objective of any educational system in society is to provide quality education for all learners so that they will be able to reach their full potential and will be able to meaningfully contribute to and participate in that society throughout their lives. We should strive to develop and sustain an educational foundation for all learners in society. Education is a fundamental right; equal opportunities should be accessible for all learners. During early childhood, children grow rapidly and are very much influenced by their environments. It is essential that young children have adequate stimulation and nutrition for development during the first few years of life. This is when the child’s brain is most influenced by the external environment; brain development affects cognitive, social and emotional growth. Such development is important as it helps to ensure that each child reaches his or her potential and contributes to society in a positive, productive way. The more stimulating the early environment, the more a child develops and learns. Investing in young children is an essential component for the development of a national economy. Early opportunities for learning in combination with improved nutrition, increases the likelihood that a child will attend school and become an adult with higher income, better health, lower crime rates, and lower levels of welfare dependence than those who do not receive early development support.
