Eating is like reading a book; it requires a fair amount time for the taste, understanding, and appreciation. You need know that food is not supposed to be fast. Even though you still can eat well and healthily in the "fast" ways that you do, but it is difficult to do so. There is not just fast food in the world; you should acknowledge the existence of the Slow Food Movement. The movement suggests you to slow down and enjoy food while “promotes gastronomic culture, taste education, conserves agricultural biodiversity and protects traditional foods at risk of extinction” (“Slow” 1). Therefore the Slow Food Movement philosophy should be adopted by American parents as it is the best way to approach and learn more about food, not just eating it. If you’ve ever gotten so busy at work that you and your children skipped breakfast and ended up having dinner at McDonald, then you must be familiar with the lifestyle that William’s family is having. William and his wife Shirley are both full-time employees but sometime they have to stay for over-time tasks. Just like you, they are busy as a hamster running on its exercise wheel, trying to get their work done properly so that they can keep their paychecks. William often tends to skip family meals and eat at work. Shirley skips breakfast and buy restaurant or prepared entrees instead of cooking. Their kids Peter and Sarah are about your children’s ages. Both are still in grade school. And since the parents don’t have time to take a good care for them and the school foods are like a collection of nutritional jokes, the two kids aren’t seemed to be very healthy.
