Bad Friends And Good Friends In The Wikipedia Encyclopedia, "friendship" Just like adolescents, relationships with friends are important to older adults. Friends contribute to our satisfaction, give us a sense of belonging, competence, and self-worth. Friendship involves: - Enjoyment - spending time doing things together and sharing life experiences - Trust—believing that our friends act on our behalf. - Respect and understanding—believing that our friends have the right to their own opinions(Fowler). In China, there is an old Chinese saying that at home or within the family, we rely on our siblings and family members(My Best Friend). Outside of our home, we rely on friends. Friends are part of our lives. We make friends not just so that they help us to pass our time, but also because they can lend their hands to us when we are down. The best friends, i still believe, totally love and support and trust each other, and understand each other(Viorst, 1977, p145). However, not all friends are reliable. It can be divided into two groups, which are good friends and bad friends. It is important to know how to choose friends. First of all, a friend who always treats people with honesty is a good friend. Like the author of "Friends, Good Friends-And Such Good Friends"(1977) states in his essay "good friends run - no question asked-to help each other, and tell harsh truths to each other (no, you can not wear that dress unless you lose ten pounds first) when harsh truth mush be told(Viorst, 1977, p142)". A good friend would always be truth to you. They tell you what is right or wrong, even though you might get mad at them. We should try our best to avoid keeping friends with people who tells you to smoke cigarettes, steal from stores, lie to parents, or do drugs. These people will never be worthy to be your
