Mia Do Professor N ENGL A100 12 September 2013 Remember That Labor Day “Everything does happen for a reason,” the old famous saying. Matters of life create memories which can either good or bad. As long as they are memories, we must leave them space to “live on” in our minds. Until now, the most powerful memory that I vividly remember is the car incident on the Labor Day of 2013. It brings me back on thinking of this quote “Driving means living” (Bob Duncan, TV show Good Luck Charlie). My “video tape replays that moment again. We are on the road to go shopping. I along with my younger sister and two cousins are talking and laughing joyfully as today is a national holiday, so we could save big at the mall. The bizarre thing is that for a moment the freeway is free; and our car is the only one on our side. Thus, my cousin speeds up a little more than the speed limit. Suddenly, out of nowhere, an old red car appears. It changes to the exit lane without a given signal. She drives the car to the middle lane by instinct. Ironically, the red car turns back to its original lane at the same time and runs away. With the burning heat of that day, my cousin loses control to the car. She cannot stop it at the right moment. The car is left alone to solve the problem, but like a drunk man it drives down into a hole instead. The first thing we hit is a coconut tree. Then, the car jumps in the air and falls down touching grass. It bounces several times; as if a tennis ball runs out of force, the car stops at the bottom of the hole. We are mixing in the car. My head is touching the ceiling twice, and the seat belt is scratching my neck which movement is impossible. Finally, we reach our unexpected destination which in an awkward position of turning up – side – down. I cannot believe what just happen. I see those scenes on movie fantasies, but never for a moment have I
