Melissa Dominguez 5/30/12 Per# 7 Registered Nurse The career that I have chosen was to go into the medical field more specifically becoming a registered nurse. Registered nurses have so many different occupational specialties which mean they have a very busy and active job. I would be interested in this type of career for many reasons. I enjoy helping people and becoming a registered nurse is a great way to take care of many others and offer your services to them. The pay is excellent and would definitely help me in my future years. There is not too much schooling involved so I could start my career much earlier than those who are attending a four year college, and then going for more schooling afterwards. I enjoy working inside, so staying in an office, or hospital all day would suit my wants. To become a registered nurse I can go to a community college for two years and graduate to receive my Associates Degree or I can also go to a four year university and receive a Bachelor’s Degree. When a registered nurse completes a two year community college and obtain an Associate’s Degree they are known as ADN. And a four year registered nurse with a Bachelor’s Degree they are known as BSN. Registered nurses can decide whether stay as an AND or BSN. One of the most important exam that registered nurse needs to take is the State exam. The State exam will confirm all your studies and receive a diploma as a registered nurse. Some registered nurses also get the chance to get hands on training during their work studies. After they are done with all the schooling material they are monitory for training. “Training will need to be provided before they start to work right away. It usually takes up to weeks even months depending on the work environment”
