Reflective Report Type Dynamics Indicator & Motivations for Work In my Type Dynamics Indicator test, my result was an “Improviser” who thrives in a constantly evolving environment, bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the work place. Improvisers often lend themselves to careers in which people skills are the focus and helping others the aim. Improvisers can often find themselves distracted if a job does not serve a human need. Although at first I felt my result was inaccurate, after further reflection I feel it summarises my motivations for work, especially a desire to achieve greater job satisfaction through fulfilling a deeper purpose, rather than financial gains. Despite being surprised at my result, I am reasonably confident the key criteria for work outlined in the Type Dynamics Indicator are accurate and relevant to my position in the graduate labour market. Career Choices I was surprised that the Prospects Career Planner listed Charity Officer and Charity Fundraiser as strong matches, as previously I had not considered a career in this area. Having reflected upon the results of my Type Dynamic Indicator, I believe it may be a career which suits my key skills and motivations. In addition, charity work would allow me the flexible working arrangements in which I feel I perform strongest. However, as a student of Biology I am keen to enter an occupation in which my studies would be beneficial. Environmental Consultant, a strong match, would allow me to combine the knowledge learnt through my degree programme with my skills in conflict resolution and listening to others. I feel this is a career which would suit both my motivations for work and my key skills. Also, I have gained experience working at the Environment Agency in Warrington and found the work both challenging and rewarding. With reference to future career prospects, I feel gaining
