Eventually after a few spankings here and there the child will learn from right and wrong very quickly. Depending on the degree of the spanking the child is receiving, parents should have the option of spanking their children. As ridiculous as it may sound, adults are not able to reason with many children now and days and some times and the only way for the child to actually listen to their parents is by the physical force that is needed or could be used in the situation so with that being said, yes parents should be able to spank their kids. Hebrews 11:12 for the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Discipline is an activity that takes place in the moment but always for the sake of later.
“Evaluate the extent to which Freud’s theory of Psychosexual Development can help us to understand a client’s presenting issue?” In this essay I am asked to evaluate one aspect of Freudian theory. I will begin by first describing Freud’s psychosexual theory and demonstrate an understanding of its relationship to adult neurotic behaviour. Having done this I will examine some of the criticisms that have been levelled at Freudian theory in order to evaluate it. In 1905 Freud published ‘Three Essays on the theory of Sexuality and other Works’, one of those essays was titled ‘Infantile Sexuality’. In this essay Freud sets out his theory of psychosexual development.
This is the start development of ego and super ego. This is around the time the child starts school and is the awakening sexual energy. The final stage is Genital Stage which starts from puberty to adult hood. During this final stage the child is no longer a child and develops a strong sexual interest in the opposite sex. This last stage is very different form the other stages Freud explains.
Drug Testing; a Success for Failure Today in the Unites States, it is common for one to hear another complaining about financial problems. Since it is obvious to see that the economy is getting worse, money is scarce and it is something that should be used for needs and not so much wants or concerns. Another more recent complaint that is being heard is the invasion of privacy students are experiencing when they are taken into a bathroom stall to take a drug test; which is given to them, not by their caregivers, but by their school administrators. John P. Walters, director of Office of National Drug Control Policy says, “Testing, after all, cannot be used to punish kids who use drugs. Its purpose is to prevent use in the first place…(Walters)”
I read the book “Who’s in Control: Dr. Balter’s Guide to discipline without combat” by Dr Lawrence Balter. He begins the book by discussing various parenting styles over the years. He discusses theories of ‘Sparing the rod and Spoiling the child’ and of training children as one would a pet. Regular beatings used to be a way of controlling children until psychoanalysis grew in popularity and was many times misunderstood, setting no limits on children and giving children free reign. Both parenting styles produced unhappy and un-self disciplined children.
Oral stage is the first stage. Mouth activities such as sucking, biting, and licking will probably we have noticed that infants seem to put everything in their mouth. Freud also believed that there could be two reasons for fixation. First if the infant weaned too early then it would feel forever under-gratified and unsatisfied and would develop into a negative, sarcastic person. Secondly, when infants weaned too late then it would over-gratified the develop individual’s innocent personality, simply trusting in others and with a tendency to swallow everything.
When you’re playing with your little bundle of joy and all of a sudden the tell tale smell drifts up to your nose or you feel the leakage on the onesie, you simply act like it isn’t there. This may require you to ignore the baby all together but hey…it gets you out of such a crappy pass time. You will want to direct your stinky bundle of joy to a safe activity as close to his mother as possible and hope and pray she will catch a wift of the stench and take over. Once you’ve ignored the smell and begun doing something more manly-like, you will probably hear your dearest calling you to come and help. She is busy and asks you to check the baby’s diaper and change it.
Treating all boys like warriors and girls like homemakers is insulting to their intelligence and abilities, and is taking too strong a stance on gender differences. Rather, subtle differences in treatment would be more suitable, such as not allowing a girl to walk alone at night, or not encouraging a boy to play with dolls. It’s ok if he does want to play with dolls (and says very little about his masculinity), but there’s no need to force it on him like a parent would with a girl. There are many situations in which boys and girls should be treated the same. Teaching a boy that it’s ok to push and shove because of his testosterone levels will probably make him more violent in the long haul, and it’s a better idea to show kids of both genders that violence is never O.K.
Tatum pointed out to her son that the girls were continuously doing dishes or cleaning, while the boys were doing the work. Tatum explained to her son that this was unfair treatment to the girls. By pointing out the unfair treatment to her son, he was able to recognize it on a separate occasion by himself. Learning to recognize sexism, racism, or any other 'ism' is a very crucial power for a child to have. By having this ability to recognize oppression helps to reject the destructive influence of messages caused by oppression. There are many ways in which we can teach children how to recognize derogatory depictions of other people as stereotypes and how to respond to them.
The problem that arises with this is that their kids could try to be rebellious to their parents’ rules and be sexually active. Due to these factors, it shows that the pros outweighs the cons and it would be beneficial to have mandatory sex education classes in middle schools and high schools. By educating the students, we can reduce the amount of unexpected pregnancies and lower the rate of sexually transmitted diseases. Additionally, there are medical benefits reaped from the birth control pill that can make a major impact on someone’s life. For these reasons, it is important to support sex education in the high school
