Emily Booth How far do the sources agree that Captain Nolan was to blame for the disaster of the Charge of the Light Brigade? Source 3 agrees that Captain Nolan was to blame for the disaster of the Charge of the Light Brigade because it says that Nolan was headstrong and critical of the cavalry and its commanders, implying that due to his characteristics it was likely he would have went against orders given to him. This source is quite reliable because it is an extract from a journal meaning it would be an honest as it is self written only for that person to read. However, Source 2 disagrees with this and says that Nolan wasn’t to blame because he was merely aide-de-camp indicating that he was acting as an assistant only carrying on orders from another officer. If Nolan was acting as a military assistant to a more senior officer, he wouldn’t be critical of its commanders as suggested in Source 3, because it would be in his role to follow orders.
After six years as anchor, O'Reilly left Inside Edition to earn his master's degree in public policy at Harvard University. Upon leaving Harvard, the startup Fox News Channel hired O'Reilly to do The O'Reilly Factor. In 2001, The Factor became the country's most watched cable news program. His wife Michelle is profiled in next month’s edition of Oprah Winfrey’s magazine, O, and he was the first politician to grace the cover of Vibe, Rolling Stone for the Bet crowd. Even the rapper Common has featured him in one of his songs. On October 5 Obama was the first—and so far onlycandidate to create a profile on BlackPlanet. BlackPlanet crimes ranging from scams to online bullying are on the rise, and they are getting more sophisticated, experts warn. It's no secret that scammers on the social media website rely on carefully crafted baits that often include scandalous and explicit video content or exclusive footage of the latest and hottest events, from celebrity death claims to never-before-seen footage of a natural disaster. Just last week, a "clickjacking" scam that claimed Lady Gaga was found dead in a hotel room spread like wildfire on BlackPlanet thanks to a link that took users to a fake BBC News website.
They also did not know God the way the settlers did, as a result they were a misunderstood people in their ways of life. Along with that the early Europeans thought of themselves as being far more advanced in terms of culture and possessed arrogance in how they viewed the Indians. It is clear to me that Ben Franklin recognized their social behavior in which they understood proper etiquette such as (“the Indian rules of politeness and not to answer a public proposition the same day that it is made”)
Professor Richard Alba of the University of New York asked a group of Harvard students about what they thought about assimilation. The majority had negative thoughts about it. He states “The Assimilation era is now condemned for the expectation that minority groups would inevitably want to shed their own cultures, as if they were old skins no longer possessing any vital force, and wrap themselves in the Anglo-American culture” (pages 1-2). That’s how many people see assimilation today, even if it isn’t a popular term anymore. Another thing that makes assimilation bad is the fact that people use it so much that they don’t see that it could be a danger in the future.
She argues that not only is moral isolationism the view that one ought to respect other cultures but not judge them not right but it is logically incoherent. She presents four arguments that judgment is logically antecedent to respect that outsiders can judge foreign cultures if on a provisional basis and that moral isolationism leads to a complete inability to make moral judgments of any kind, and that cultures are not as moral isolationism holds isolating barriers. Her first argument is if moral isolationism is correct then one can respect a culture without judging it. But this is logically incoherent because judgment is logically antecedent to respect. One must judge a culture to some degree in order to respect it.
For example: "I believe that calling Asians "Oriental" is wrong because ... " - Use of examples, evidence, or other information to support argument: Back up your argument. For example, "According to Robert Lee, 'Oriental' was a term ..." - Coherence and clarity: I will not grade by how much or how little you write, but by how well you relate the thesis statement to the rest of your paper. For example, if your thesis statement is about the term "Oriental," but you lose focus and start talking about other things in your paper that have little relevance to your thesis statement, you will have points
94. Romney v. United States fought against this ruling and eventually realized that they could not win this battle which lead to the renouncing of polygamy. While I agree that all beliefs are not right as in the book which states “Thugs of India imagined that their belief in the right of assassination was a religious belief; but their thinking so did not make it so.Yes it does not make it right because they believe in polygamy but it’s very hard to take away something someone belief started from, is based on and ask them to still believe in the same way as the founders who beliefs they are carrying out. In today’s time Mormons still exist and each year missionaries go out to countries to convince people to transform to their beliefs. In the end I believe we can’t take away the Mormons main beliefs from them and we shouldn’t punish them for doing it as long as they it in their own society.
I believe that the Indian Act should be abolished. I believe this because no one should be discriminated because of their colour, race, or beliefs. It is unfair to put the First Nations people on a reserve, just so that you can own the remaining land. It is also unfair to change peoples’ beliefs just because they are not like everyone else. Everyone should be treated as equals but that’s not the case with Indians, , because no one person is better than another.
In general, Bacon’s complaints against governor Berkeley were the raising of taxes, not advancing as a whole, his mercy for Indians, and his lack of protection for Virginia. The citizens of Virginia would agree because they are being affected negatively, however, Indians would disagree because they are benefited by
