The Crusades were informed by new ideals that came about by the change from monastic ideals to ideals of chivalry and of a knightly class. The West wanted to protect Jerusalem and protect fellow Christians living in the Islamic world. There was also a growing threat by Seljuk Turks who were moving close to Byzantium. Both objectives lead the Pope, abbots, kings and every day people to desire warfare for what the west saw as a holy war. Yet the church would have to find a way to advocate for the crusade as violence was a crime.
Pope Urban II lied and said that Christ demands that the Holy Land be freed from the Muslims to gain support from others, and Pope Urban II also lied when he said that the sins f those who went to fight would be washed away. Factors for the Invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan It was viewed as a war against terror according to George Bush and the United Nations; it was also a war against Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction. It was a war to liberate Iraq from Saddam Hussein’s regime of men and Al-Qaeda; it also was a war to free the Afghanistan people and government from the Taliban. Motives for the Crusades The only motive for the early crusades was to gain control of the Holy Land and to try and purify the Christian religion. As strange as it may sound a lot of the soldiers who went to war with the Muslims just wanted to kill people because it gave them a thrill and had no interest what so ever in the Holy Land.
However, it was the effects of the Great Depression in Germany that brought the Nazi Party to its first real nationwide importance. The rise in unemployment in 1929–30 provided millions of jobless and unsatisfied voters whom the Nazi Party exploited to its advantage. From 1929 to 1932 the party vastly increased its membership and voting strength; its vote in elections to the Reichstag increased from 800,000 votes in 1928 to about 14,000,000 votes in July 193. By then, big businesses had begun to finance the Nazi party because of tax increases and communists. The effects of the great depression caused mostly by Wall Street crash and therefore the American investors urgently needed the return of money they had lent to businesses.
GDP has always been a strong measure of economic strength as it is the account for all spending of the country, thus it being a strong economic indicator. As the economy has been constantly growing, the GDP has been following suit and growing steadily. In 2010, a recession hit the country and as the strength of the economy fell, so did the GDP. In 2009, the GDP was 1542.56 billion dollars. The year after, it dropped by roughly 200 billion, only to rise up again to 1778.63 in 2012.
When Clinton raised the minimum wage it stimulated a slumping economy and had increases in the job market. Republicans and Democrats are at either end of the spectrum on how to increase consumer spending and the American economy in this recovery
This benefit allowed tactics such as the ‘wedge’ to be executed as more soldiers could reinforce the wedge from behind, which would consequently break the enemies’ formation (Roman Empire.net 2012). As a result of these tactics many battles were won in favour of Rome. These victories can be appreciated as it too aided the faith in the Emperors. In comparison; Emperors used this power among society to increase their popularity. Instances in which this can be seen would be the gladiator games.
The greek beliefs and lifestyles must have been that powerful for the romans to base their whole lives around it and have it impact the reason they were so great. So props to the greeks , they conquered Rome in the
to declare war in the summer of 1917 was America's aspirations to become a world power. Prior to this the US was a great power but that was mainly confined to the Western Hemisphere and the Pacific regions. By entering this war between all of the world's great powers, America would emerge as a major world power at the end of the war, that is the course after winning the war and stake its claim at the bargaining table. Also, entering in such a massive global war would spur the American economy and help it grow tremendously. And provide and massive industrial boom as American factories would pump out massive amounts of war supplies including machine guns, Army uniforms, and artillery pieces to name a few.
Decreasing the interest rate effectively increases consumer and businesses consumption. Lower interest rates also increase investments and net exports (Hubbard, 868). These increases push true GDP back in line with potential GDP and, as a result, production increases. This increase in production also increases the need for workers, ultimately increasing employment. Conclusion The Federal Reserve is a very powerful entity and has a large amount of influence on how our nation’s economy performs.
What set the First Crusade in motion was when the Emperor of Byzantine, Alexius I, asked Pope Urban II for military aid against the Muslim Turks. The Muslim Turks occupied most of Spain, Palestine, North Africa, Syria, and Jerusalem at the time and was close to Constantinople. [4] The Muslim territorial gains threatened the Christendom and sparked a serious rivalry between the two religions, especially in terms of dominance. This rivalry helped fuel the Christian retaliation and campaign against the Muslims as it threatened the Churches power. Pope Urban II sought out to strengthen the church via reform.
