Yes, the information was very relevant to the topic. It provided a lot of different ways to approach critical thinking while reading. It shows that a person must be assertive, open minded, ability and willingness to think critical while reading materials and papers. What I liked the best about it was taking the time while reading to stop and analyze the writing and think about the subject so you have a better understanding of it. The information really stayed on topic while all the different views of the reading, it’s really showed how critical thinking while reading is very important Does the information reflect a bias on the author’s part?
The more they practice and the more teachers and parents instill this in their minds, the better they will become. Perfect practice, makes perfect. Most people would probably have trouble with trying to remember how they learned to read. I would have to say that I am a person who loves to read and I think that is it really an amazing thing. Also, I am someone who is involved in education and research and I think that it is amazing how learning to read is said to be a talent that it potentially impossible.
Within each section it states what the students should be able to achieve for example under speaking and listening it states We want out students to develop increasing confidence and competence in speaking and listening so they are able to: • Clarify and explain their ideas and explain their thinking. • Use a varied and specialised vocabulary. • Listen with understanding and respond sensitively and appropriately. Under reading it states we want our students to enjoy reading, to be able to use their reading to help them learn to develop increasing confidence and competence in reading so that they are able to: • Read fluently and with understanding. • Select information from a wide range of texts and resources including print, media and to evaluate those sources.
We continue to learn and strengthen our skills as we grow. B) I learned that I may not always be good at expressing my thoughts. I have learned that I am better at writing out what I feel. I guess I can get more out that way. I have the opportunity to reread what I have written and then make corrections so that the point that I am getting at is full understood by the reader.
What is reading rhetorically? When you read rhetorically “you engage in this kind of reading, you look for the rhetorical strategies of the writer -- the patterns, structures, figures, & methods that a writer uses in order to make her/his point. This kind of reading can, in turn, help you to strategize your own approach to creating effective texts for particular audiences and purposes” (Malea Powell 1) Thorough out this semester we have reviewed several rhetorical readings. Although in the beginning, I never quite understood what the author was truly trying to say, but now I do. Understanding this form of reading can be very helpful in my future education.

VARK is a magnificent tool online that simply helps identify the different types of learning styles that are out there and helps guide individuals in the right path as far as learning goes. VARK stands for Visual, Aural, Read/write, and last but not least Kinesthetic. Visual, Aural, and Read/write mean exactly what they say. These individuals learn best by doing just that. Visual learners need to see things in order to learn, aural learners are better when they hear the information, and reading/writing learners perform best reading information and writing it down.
