The design, which took a full decade to select and build, features two huge pools in the shape of the Trade Center towers, lined by waterfalls and descending into the site. Victims' names are etched in bronze around the edge of the pools. The Flight 93 Memorial, still incomplete, features a memorial wall along the edge of the crash site engraved with the names of the flight's 40 crewmembers and passengers. A gate allows family members to visit the "sacred ground" of the crash site. The memorials' opening brought a symbolic end to a decade-long debate over how to physically commemorate 9/11, and brought obvious comfort to many of the bereaved.
Cooper. On November 24, 1971, shortly after takeoff from Seattle, Washington, a man in seat 18c of Northwest Orient Airlines handed the flight attendant a note that started one of the most famous cases in FBI history (Pasternak). The man’s name, at least according to his ticket, was Dan Cooper (Mysterious Disappearances in U.S. History), and the note claimed that he had a bomb and that he would detonate it unless his demands were met (Pasternak). Cooper demanded $200,000, four parachutes, and “no funny stuff” (Brad Meltzer's Decoded). At the Seattle-Tacoma Airport, in Tacoma, Washington, he released thirty-six passengers and two crew members once his demands were met (Pasternak).

Most significantly, it tells the story of the unsung heroes.

In my parents living room I sat watching the morning news, as it often happens there was an interruption, approximately at 8:45 am there was a breaking story that needed to be immediately reported. They streamed the live events taking place in NYC reporting that a Boeing 767 jet was crashing into the north tower of the World Trade Center with a gaping hole set ablaze in the 110
My experience with episodic memory would have to be remembering 9/11. On September 11, 2001 people woke up and started their daily routine- some went to work, others to school, it appeared to be just another ordinary day. Little did we know this day would be one to go down in history, one that would never again pass without being remembered or reflected on, and one that abruptly opened the world’s eyes to the issue of terrorism. On this unforgettable morning, planes soared through the sky, flying directly into the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon. Havoc was wreaked throughout the cities, and as the towers came crumbling down thousands were killed and even more were injured.
When mentions of airplanes, New York, and the Middle East are placed together, it is common to think that the author is alluding to the attacks on our World Trade Center in 2001. However, this is not the case. None of the airplanes used to attack our nations came from JFK airport. When doing further reading, I noticed the author says “ whole flocks are being gassed near JFK” and that “they’re going to make the opposition pay.” It is clear now that her allusion to our country’s War on Terror. These “whole flocks” had to be fleets of planes being sent over seas to avenge the death of our nation’s tallest twins.
