The Immune system normally functions to protect against foreign invaders by sending out certain cells that attack and destroy the ailment affecting your body, like an infection or a cold. But with lupus the immune system becomes hyperactive that the immune system begins attacking the body itself. What happens is the immune system sends out what is called B cells to attack an infection, but in Lupus the B cells live longer then they should. These B cells produce an antibody,
A vaccine for TB does exist; it is called bacilli Calmetter-Guérin (or simply, “BCG”). Although BCG immunization provides optimal protection for infants and young children, its efficacy for adults is inconsistent. Several confounding variables are thought to contribute to the varying outcomes; nevertheless, demand for the advancement of BCG exists due to the increasing drug-resistance of TB (wikipedia.org). Through the use of white blood cells, these two forms of immunity are able to attack harmful pathogens triggering inflammation and/or fever. When a pathogen attempts to gain access to our bodies, they must penetrate the first line of defense consisting of external barriers including the skin and mucus membranes. Should the threat be successful at passing the first line of defense, non-specific immunity becomes active and launches several mechanisms geared at repelling it. Nonspecific immunity, also known as innate immunity, are responses aimed at a broad range of attackers rather than one specific pathogen. The term “innate” is used as these mechanisms are present at birth which allows the body to defend against pathogens it has yet to experience.
As practitioners working with children and young people, it is our duty and responsibility to safeguard them. There are different types of abuse that children and young people can be subjected to, and it is our responsibility under the law that we protect them where possible from any harm. Sometime this means that we will have to contact the relevant authorities if any type of abuse is suspected, and this will be investigated and procedures put in place to ensure the child is not subject any longer, sometimes this might mean that the child has to be removed from the home and put into care. This can be a very trying time for children and young people, so we need to let them know that we care, and are there to support them, that we can be trusted and if they need to talk about anything that we are available to listen. In our setting we have policies and procedures in place which ensure that certain types of abuse do not happen, and for those who are new they will receive training or information about the policies and procedures, who to contact if we suspect abuse of any sort.

We need to refocus the attention and trust of parents to the facts, that vaccines were created for a purpose; to protect. In order to ensure they are aware of this, information must be easily attainable. If we tighten up our documentation process, promote more education on the topics and crack down on the exemption applications, we can eradicate more vaccine preventable diseases like Measles, Polio and Pertussis. From a public health perspective, mandatory school immunization prove effective in protecting the public's health and ensuring a safe educational environment by reducing the danger of vaccine-preventable diseases.
