Michelangelo tried to hold his own against Pope Julius II: “It will be finished when I shall have done all that I believe is required to satisfy Art” (330). The pope told him strictly that he should complete the painting as quickly as possible. The pope also said that if Michelangelo did not complete the painting with haste, the pope would “[throw Michelangelo] headlong from the scaffolding. Michelangelo did what he was told to do, even though some of the spots that Julius had wanted him to complete were not completed. Michelangelo wanted to finish the painting, and he would have wanted to make the painting a little more enriching and have a bigger effect on people.
He was truly a genius with all the machines he built that were way before his time. I never would of thought that architects would have as many rivals as he did but when your as good as he was a lot of people would be jealous. One thing that amazed me was how long all the models and pieces of the dome took to build. Also since they didn’t have planes of course to ship the materials they needed it took forever and shipping materials overseas was dangerous back then too for example when they had to get the marble shipped over. I couldn’t imagine devoting most of my life to building a dome.
"The 'if' clause that is left out is salient. Leaving it out changes the meaning completely." Not enough room Memorial planners said they were fond of the quotation but that it had to be shortened because of a change during the King statute's creation. They originally planned to use most of the "drum major" quote but changed its placement, and sculptor Lei Yixin told them there wasn't enough space. The craftsmen, who were building the arch, were working very diligently. Some were carving figures in the arch, others were writing an inscription on the front of the arch, others were holding up marble to the top of the arch. Everyone was working hard so that they were able to finish the arch before daylight. For on the next day the Emperor Domitian wanted to dedicate this arch to his brother Titus. He hated Titus when living, but wanted to honour him in death.
I finished reading the book about three weeks, but it seems like experienced one year in my life. AJ Jacobs is a writer for a magazine, who was decided to spend one year trying to follow every rule in the Bible as literally as possible. He obeyed the Ten Commandments, and he was fruitful and multiply, he loves his neighbor and tithes his income. As far as to abide by the often neglected rules: to avoid wearing clothes made of mixed fibers, to stone adulterers, and to leave the edges of my beard unshaven. What a crazy thought?
He actually risked his life and tried to triple his IQ, by going through a surgery. He was also cheated and was not told that there wasn’t enough research in that area. The saddest and worst effect was that he will always remember being a brilliant genius but he will never get the chance to be on again. That is just a little bit compared to the other sad things he went through, but that is why I am against him having the
Eventually the Cardinals were pressured into picking a Pope and they chose Pope Celestine V. He was a holy man but he was not made to be Pope so he ended up resigning. Pope Boniface VIII was elected in his place. Boniface was very similar to Pope Innocent III in that he was incredibly strong willed and he felt that the Pope should be above
Fountainhead Essay Ayn Rand has many insightful and interesting views on the business world and the way that people feel about people who love their work. Many of these views expressed in the scene involving Cameron and Roark. It is obvious that Cameron desperately wants Roark to pursue his passion for architecture while working under his own supervision, yet he also discourages Roark for many reasons. One example of why Cameron discourages Roark is because of his own past experience with being hurt by devoting himself completely to his work. Another example of Cameron’s reasoning is that he does not want to get his hopes up about having a new protégé, who is equally talented at the work he does, to employ and mentor.

In life, unreliable people surround us. These people often break promises, bringing disappointment to others. Sometimes the undependable person may not realize the disappointment the empty promises bring to others. Like in the quote from “The Ship Shape” by David Sedaris, the father expected the family to be excited about the promises, but instead they were disappointed because they had been let down numerous times.

The Charlemagne was one that believed education was very important. He was brought up knowing Latin and Greek, but swords were more important than knowing and education. He was ashamed of his Heracy so he wanted the people to know it well.
