No more getting up at 7 every morning to get to school on time. No more “fast-paced walks” in an attempt to get to the front of the lunch line. It’s the little things like these that have made high school so special. Volleyball has turned into a very important factor in my life. In the years before I just played to have fun.
Whereas in America we have one last name and when a woman gets married it changes to her husband’s last name. La Siesta. In the early hours of the afternoon, when the intense heat of the sun discourages physical activity, people take a rest period, la siesta. Business people shut their doors at about one o'clock and go home to eat lunch with their families. Lunch is the biggest meal of the day and a time for the family to gather together.
Smith, Hi Jayden.” Said Stacy “Hey everyone.” Replied mom and Jayden *two hours late Stacy went home the Mr. Smith came home. * Friday may 31, 2013 *Today was kind of a languid day. It was a Tuesday in a hot summer day in El Salvador that was the day I left my family. I woke up earlier than usual that day because I could not sleep any more; I was very scared and nervous about my long travel. It took me twenty days to get here to the United States. Around nine o’clock A.M my family and I made a prey so everything could go good, we finished preying then I started giving hugs and kisses to everybody especially to my mother and father. After
Dumas stated, “Displaying the hospitality that Iranians so cherish, my father extended a dinner invitation to everyone who called”(321). “As a result, we found ourselves feeding dozens of people every weekend”(Dumas 321). Her mom intended dinner starting on Monday for the next weekend. Since she didn’t drive, her husband took her shopping every Tuesday for all the provisions she needed for the dinner. Availability and freshness of food and herbs determined how long the shopping trip would be.
As soon as they finished they hit the road again and about midmorning they came to a dirt road witch was about thirty minutes long and it lead to Samuel’s dirty old trailer. Waylon and Wayne introduced Terry to Samuel and then went in side to make coffee. Samuel told a story for a while as they listen quietly until he stopped and he fell a sleep. CHAPTER 16 In the evening while Samuel was still asleep they made a camp fire and set up their tent right next to it. They ate spaghetti and got ready for bed but Waylon and Wayne chatted for a while and Terry just remembered his old life back at home.
It was the best summer of my life. I made a lot of friends, and at the end we got Junior Guard bags, T-shirts, and of course Junior Guard Stripes. This stripe has a lot of sentimental value for me because this is a symbol of the Junior Lifeguard camp. I went through a lot of things at this camp, and I am not going there again, so it can be a very good reminder of time I spent there. This stripe was given to me by the Junior Lifeguard couch.
I knew it was going to be a hot day because at eight in the morning it was already unbearable to sit in the car. I was going to Detroit to watch my first Tigers game, and it was a day I would never forget. When I was five years old my family moved from a house in the city, to a house in the country with a big yard. The front yard is a little bigger than a football field and is perfect for kids playing sports. I also have four brothers and two
I went to the doctor on Tuesday and the twins were fine. The doctor and I talked about scheduling the date for my cesarean section on my next visit which would have been on the Thursday. That’s when I was going to pick the day I was going to finally meet my twins but it didn’t happen that way. When I got home from the doctor on Tuesday I came home took and a well needed nap, because I had been at the doctor’s office all morning. When I got up from my nap I did a few things around the house, then that night I put a relaxer in my hair, showered and went to bed.
Food pantries have become common place in communities where they did not exist even five years ago. Local churches also have food programs and belive it or not, both sometimes get low on food items and sometimes run out because the need has become so great. It is probably a forgone thought , but invite someone who you happen to know is having a difficult time, to have dinner with you. You'd be surprised how much this helps when food is an issue, and is appreciated greatly. During summer months, the good old fashioned barbeque is a wonderful way to help with meals especially in families with children.
