The war gives Gatsby an opportunity to see the world and earn money in the service. Gatsby did “extraordinarily well in the war. He was a captain before he went to the front, and following the Argonne battles he got his majority and the command of the divisional machine guns” (150). A war hero, as any man would call it, he was truly someone whom any soldier would seek to for guidance and for help if they needed it. Gatsby, however, did not realize that with the ending of the war, his prestige would end as well.

Jack Martin English 11—Period 1 7-29-14 Thomas Paine Thomas Paine once said “The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph, what we obtain too cheap we esteem to lightly.” I couldn’t agree more. Not only is this is a motivational piece, but it’s also telling the truth, it also lets people know that hard work pays off. Thomas pains quote is a motivational piece because it’s telling people that in order to get something you will value, you will have to work hard to get it. That is a life lesson some people miss. Hard work pays off in the long run.

There needs to more training available for both the employer and other employees to enable them to work with and offer the person with autism to hold down a job. This may lead to low self-esteem and lack of purpose in their everyday lives. When I worked in retail I offered two young men who had ASD jobs, this turned out to be a great success. As long as what was expected of them was explained simply at a level which suited them they were able to carry out their work to a very high
And fear the time when the strikes stop while the great owners live—for every little beaten strike is proof that the step is being taken.” | Pg.151 | This is one of my favorite quotes from the book. It was odd at first that Steinbeck started giving war a positive light, however after reading it over I completely agreed with the quote. Man is constantly moving forward step by step. This also reminded me of how in the book Tom was just trying to put “one foot in front of the other” so that he could deal with his situation. Men always advance and as they do, it can be a struggle so it is almost like everyone is just stumbling
People who go to college usually look for flexible employment which lets them work and go to school; with these kind of employees you have potential college graduates who can decide to stay and grow with your company. Hire vs. retain Here you can have a combination of the two. You want to be able to hire low entry employees all the time, as you know the retail business has a high turnover. The American Dream takes dedication and effort to achieve and all though for some it’s rather difficult, such as people in poverty, it’s possible. Having a good job and making your own money opens so many doors of possibility. It brings stability, and with the right resources and determination the American Dream is achievable to
This allowed workers a more equal approach in their job and made workers want to go out and do their job because money was such a necessity. The Wagner Act allowed workers to join unions and outlawed union-busting tactics which was very important since it allowed workers their freedom of speech and to stand up for themselves and fight for what they thought was right. The youth largely benefited from the new deal. Programs such as WPA, PWA, NYA, CCC and social security made it a large change in the way the youth would grow up and how their future would be shaped. The WPA was the works progress administration and employed millions of workers and provided work in arts which had not been very big and many people could showcase their talents while getting paid for it.
