Scope of Work
Lotsa Junk Consignments wants to expand their brick and mortar business to sell luxury and designer products. The goal is to provide a user-friendly site structure and to improve sales through search engines.
The first thing Lotsa Junk will to do before anything else is to get a domain name. This will be the name of the website. The name that was chosen is www.lotsajunk.com. The domain name will be registered through GoDaddy.com, who will also host the website.
Lotsa Junk will hire a third-party web design consultant to create the website. They will be tasked with designing the website to include all the components for an e-commerce website such as shopping cart, payment options, inventory control, and customer relationship software. The site will be designed to be used on a variety of browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari. The site will be also be tested on both Windows and OSX operating systems. Website statistics such as goal tracking and analytics will be processed by Google Analytics.
The website consists of a main page which will feature a different product each week. The products page will contain further separate men's, ladies', and children's items. There are pages to discuss shipping, returns, and frequently asked questions. A page for testimonials is also provided for customers to leave feedback and comments. The Contact Us page is provided to contact customer service by email or phone. Eventually, a live chat option will also be provided.
When the website goes live, Lotsa Junk will retain the website design consultant to maintain the website for a least the first year. During that time, research will be conducted as to the cost effectiveness of retaining the website consultant for maintenance or to hire and train staff to take over after the first year. Research will also be conducted into the feasibility of adapting the website to run on mobile devices.
