The pill can cause toxic shock syndrome which can lead to death. Based on a new report, four women in the United States have died from this condition which is said to trace back to the pill (Seppa 1). According to Seppa, the women we perfectly healthy at ages of 18, 21, 22, 34 when they died from using the pill. These women developed uterine infections which later led their body to go into shock that could no longer be controlled (Seppa 1).There are also some restrictions for taking RU 486, where women who are older than 35 and or are heavy smokers are advised not to take the pill because it can lead to complications, and can cause death (Banwell
Risk of dying depends on what type of cancer is present. It can be very treatable, or the patient who tests positive for having the mutation might never develop the cancer. 4.How do heredity and inheritance relate to the data presented in these charts? So most cases of breast cancer occur after the woman has had children, so the gene, if it is present, is passed on to her children before she knows she knows that she has cancer, she might also be a carrier - spreading the mutation, but she herself is not affected. 5.What data would you need to see in order to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of preventive surgeries?
According to the Canadian Medical Association only 1 out of 100 women under the age of 40 learns she has breast cancer (Heisey, Ruth, McCready, David). But over the course of her lifetime 1 in 8 women will contract the disease. As women we have learned to fear the worst. Breast cancer touches many of our lives but every lump doesn’t mean a death sentence. There may be benign reasons for breast lumps such as hormonal changes, the breast tissue itself, and cysts.
A piece of evil had entered me.” (Bazelon, 2007) We cannot assume all patients have the same post trauma, this woman may have had a psychological disorder, or received extreme amounts of pressure or stress before encountering her abortion. Statistically, after a study in California of medicare patients who received abortions, researchers say that 44% complained of nervous disorder, 31% had regrets about the abortions and 11% were prescribed psychotropic drugs by medical doctors (AfterAbortion, 2011). Putting into perspective that this studying was strictly done in California can allow for a bias opinion, as different parts of the country have different religions, cultures and abortion laws or

This side debates that there is no need for imprisonment, there just needs to be treatment programs in place that teach moms about the devastating effects of abusing drugs while pregnant and assisting them with getting the proper physicians and medications to come off from drugs. However there is a lot more research done recently on what stage of pregnancy a baby is most at risk and the result is that we just don’t know. There is no set amount and no set time frame that it is okay for a baby to be exposed to drugs or alcohol and still be safe from birth defects. The problem with this still lies in the fact that a large percentage of people that enter drug treatment actually graduate from the program. There is a high drop out rate in treatment centers.

Is it her physical appearance or her individuality? As I read this journal entry by Lorde, I can feel the same sense of loss and anger that she had to endure and overcome. Lorde did express her feelings clearly stating that, “Prosthesis offers that empty comfort of “Nobody will know the difference”.
5. Using examples from the reading you have done for this course describe and discuss how the social construction of “beauty” or the “beauty myth” affects women who have been diagnosed with cancer. Throughout history a woman's value has been determined in terms of her physical appearance and ability to mirror a socially constructed idea of beauty that continues within western society. As a result, a woman's body image, feelings of sexual attractiveness, and self-esteem has been negatively influenced by society. Due to society’s creation of unrealistic images of what women are supposed to look like, many women who have lost a breast to cancer with experience a decrease in self-esteem and have other negative emotions.
The Nurse’s Dilemma: Being Asked Not To Tell The Nurse’s Dilemma: Being Asked Not To Tell Nurses face ethical dilemmas on a regular basis. As nurses work to provide health care services, we often are asked to participate in ethically questionable activities (Potter, Perry, Stockert, & Hall, 2012). Today, a patient who was newly diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer with metastasis to her bones was admitted to the hospice unit. Her daughter is her primary caregiver and has asked me to deceive her mother by “turning over” my badge and telling her mother that I am from a home health agency. She specifically requested that I “do not say hospice” because she believes that her mother doesn’t know she has been admitted to the hospice unit.
