Money is very important this day in age and using steroids will make you better than everyone and you will be rich and successful. Another is to win and acquire personal fame (III 1). Money is a very large reason for professional athletes to use steroids. But it has plenty incentives for someone who is trying to make it into the major leagues and need that extra “push” to get there so they can stop working hard boring jobs and get paid to do what they love. It could be the difference of working two jobs seventy hours a week or being rich and famous and retire middle aged in a tropical part of the world.
Braulio Sanchez 5118986 Singer’s Unrealistic Solution In the New York Times article, “The Singer Solution to World Poverty,” Peter Singer tries to persuade his audience to donate a huge chunk of their annual earnings to charities that assist those children that are impoverished overseas. Singer does this by proposing almost insane, unrealistic ideas, such as donating more than half of their income and only living off of necessities. This, of course, is preposterous because as humans we want to have luxury items such as expensive TVs and fancy cars so we can enjoy our leisure time. When looking at this article its ineffectiveness becomes clear; this article in its entirety is a giant appeal to the readers’ emotions with not enough logical or reasonable arguments to support his argument. Although Singer has strong ethos because of his status as a philosopher, his essay is ineffective due to his misuse of two certain scenarios in order to persuade people to donate by making them feel guilty & relies far too much on pathos to persuade his audience rather than focusing on logos and ethos.
Being so close to the skytrain station allows Earls to have a competitive advantage over some of the other restaurants in the area. The convenience has helped Earls’ food sales and will hopefully help their liquor sales once the recommendations mentioned later are applied. According to a study by the American Public Transportation Association or APTA, if a business were to invest money into the local public transportation system, they would be able to triple their investment through the
Creating more profit opportunities by increasing marketing and promotion will encourage the dealerships to bring in and stock more of Company S’s product. This strategy is advantageous because it increases the opportunities for profit for not only the dealerships, but for Company S as well. If the dealerships sell more units, then Company S will make more money as well. This will create trust between Company S and it’s dealerships. A disadvantage of this strategy would be costly.
Inflation aside, this means college is getting more expensive. Unless your parents are wealthy enough to pay for your tuition or you worked your tail off to receive a full-ride scholarship, more often than not, you have to take out student loans to fund your education. As a result of the high price tag of getting an education, many graduates struggle when faced with the trouble of paying off that huge debt. It’s no longer a right to attend higher education. To many, myself included, attending college is now a luxury.
Some of this money is used to make pennies. However, the cost to make a penny has risen over past years. As of now, it takes more money to make a penny than the penny is actually worth. This seems like a waste of money when 2/3 of pennies immediately drop out of circulation (Source C). The money being used to make pennies could be made for other, more useful, things such as buying supplies for schools or helping the homeless.
chart.png ESSAY Overpaid Pro Athletes Pro Athletes over the world are paid millions of dollars to play a sport, while people like firemen or police are risking their lives every day are paid not even close to these athletes. These Athletes make millions for just playing a game, teachers are working 7 days a week, grading papers and teaching kids new subjects while athletes make millions of dollars for a game, but this is partially our fault for showing so much interest and paying so much to go to these games. We are a very big reason for pro athletes making so much money. Sports fall into the category of entertainment, which means they’re trying to entertain us, and while entertaining us we’re paying for that entertainment.
This is a long term effect because it occurred over a number of years and led to other factors such as the problem of inflation, which links with the population increase because as the resources became limited, prices for these resources increased as they were in higher demand. Therefore inflation then became another factor contributing to poverty. Inflation was another factor for the increase of poverty because the cost of living increased making it harder to afford the everyday supplies needed to survive. People's wages did not keep up with the rising prices making it difficult to survive especially those with low wages to start with, they were in a worse position. Buying simple supplies such as food cost more money, as a result they had less or no money to spend on anything else after purchasing food.
