Productive and Counterproductive Behaviors Paper The Productive and Counterproductive behavior is opposite of one another pertaining to the employee. The Productive Behavior is a positive aspect of the employee toward the organization and counterproductive is the negative side of the employee toward the organization. Each behavior plays key roles in job performance and overall performance in which this paper will provide more in-depth information for productive and counterproductive behavior. Productive Behavior Productive Behavior is "defined as employee behavior that contributes positively to the goals and objectives of the organization" (Britt & Jex, 2008, p. 95). Productive behavior is a positive rating that identifies individuals who perform for the organization by using their self motivation, needing less supervision, and possessing job experience. Impacts of Productive Behavior The impacts of productive behavior could result in promotions or salary increase, depending on the overall performance within the organization. Product behavior has three common forms in an organization: job performance, organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), and innovation. These three common forms provide a rating used to determine the positive level of their behavior within the organization. Job Performance Job performance is the way employees perform their work in accordance to their employers’ initial counseling that explains their roles and responsibilities in the organization. Job performance is how the employee conducts and performs his roles and responsibilities for the organization. Organization Citizenship Behavior Organization citizenship behavior is working above the organization standard of the duty description of the current job.
