It would not be able to cut back his hours and taking a class that is not required would take a lot of his time. The Study Skills class requires note taking in his current classes. This would allow him to put more attention on the note taking and possible less understanding of the material for the specific class. Which could possibly distract him and lose his focus. However, Study Skills comes with many important reasons to keep the class.
Inclusion of all students is important. If they feel intimidated in class they can come to me afterwards and ask a question in private. If they leave my class happy, I feel they have learnt something. It is very important for the students to know they have the support of the teacher and feel confident in the knowledge that any information given to the teacher is treated in
This gives him confidence and allows him to be able to work on the problem without feeling ashamed. Another reason why friendly arguments are good occasionally is that it allows us room to freely express ourselves. If you do not take time to freely express yourself you could get lost in what someone else wants you to be or how someone else wants you to think. You have to determine your self worth from time to time which isn’t always easy. This is where the arguments may kick in but in the end you will be more appreciated for being you and you in turn will be better understood.
Including Ron in activities by asking questions instead of letting him sit their quiet is a start. Another way is directing him to his assigned seat when it is time to start the reading instead of him showing or coming late shows him that he is not in charge. Try your best to add the student in to make them feel they are part of the class so they wont feel left out or put themselves
James Tirtowijoyo Young Professor Fasano LART 211 20 April 2012 Night Owl Students Can Learn Better Many students choose to study at night because there are fewer distractions at night so that they can concentrate better and do well on their study. On the contrary, many people believe that staying up late is not healthy because lack of sleep will lower one’s brain performance and mess your biological time. However, there are some cases that many students find nighttime as the only time they can get a perfect condition for their brain to study and process information as it is quiet, calm, and peaceful. There are also some ways to maintain yourself to get enough sleep time as the cost of getting a good study environment is their sleep time. Since we were still in elementary school, secondary school, and even until we go into college, our days are usually packed with many activities, inside or outside school, five to six days a week.
It is your responsibility to read the syllabus • Respect your classmates by creating a positive learning environment. Show up on time and if you are late, enter quietly without disrupting. How I currently approach the weekly readings in the course is first by finding out how many pages I have to read. Once I determine the page size, then I decide how much reading I can handle in one night. At times, I may have to break the reading up into two days in order for me to completely comprehend what I have read. Once I begin reading, I also have to take mini-breaks in order for me to stay engaged. This is the best approach for me to take because I only have time to complete my reading at night, when everyone is in the bed.
Don't let studying, class, and homework bring you down. Your young and have plenty of time later to work, and study. Class, and study time will always be there, but the party's will not! Class is an unnecessary evil in the world of college students. Sure there are attendance policy's and lectures, but do you really need them?
The opposite learning styles, involving listening and verbal skills, are more difficult for me. I would much rather learn how something works by using it than by listening to someone tell me how it works. When any of my teachers stand in front of the classroom and just reads form the text book. This type of teaching is my kryptonite, the words just pass right through me. To help me my learning process in class's like that i need to recreate the lectured material using my own visual tools and adapt my teacher's preferred teaching methods to my preferred learning styles.
Different people prefer different styles of learning. I think both learning by myself and learning with a teacher could be helpful. Learning with a teacher can prevent one from being confused and increase the rate and speed of learning. Another important point is that for practical subjects you have to have a teacher. On the other hand, sometimes I would rather learning on my own.
