The epiglottis stops any of the sandwich entering the windpipe by covering the windpipe hole. In the stomach the sandwich is churched and then mixed with gastric juices and the muscular walls of the stomach churn the contents into a liquid called chyme. The gastric juices contain mucus which moistens the food, they also contain the enzyme pepsin and hydrochloric acid which pepsin needs to work effectively. The pepsin breaks down proteins (the beef) to peptides and amino acids. Chyme is squirted from the stomach into the duodenum and then enters the small intestine.

This is in Kalamazoo, they claim to go back to about 1919 and they do the Coney’s right in the window as you would like to see and the buns are nice and steamy. Now you see they use it’s the kind of a purple onion, but it’s a wonderful Coney Island. This is a Port Huron chain, kind of interesting in that they have three restaurants and they serve their Coney’s over the top, which means they do a Detroit style sauce. They use a skinless hotdog, which is a little bit different, but they put the chili sauce over the mustard and onions, they put it on top. I was in one of their places, their downtown locations, I said “can I just have one the normal way” and they told me I couldn’t.
Amylase breaks down amylase and amylopectin (which are starches found commonly in foods such as pasta) and converts some of the starch maltose (a disaccharide.) It’s good to chew food so that the saliva can mix with the food and begin the digestive process. Amylase continues to break down starches until the food reaches the stomach where stomach acid neutralizes amylase. After food passes through the stomach and entering the small intestine, the pancreas is signaled to make pancreatic amylase. This amylase converts the remaining starch into maltose.

If you eat junk food and do not eat healthy then your medication will not be as effective as it could be. Sticking to regular mealtimes is also another thing that could help you feel better as it will keep your “blood glucose levels under control”. (Rudy, 1999, page 20) There are 2 types of carbohydrates, 1 that is good for controlling diabetes and 1 that is really bad, these are starchy and sugary. Sugary- this is the 1 that people with diabetes should stay clear of, this is due to the “glucose getting into your bloodstream fast, this could cause a sudden rise in blood glucose levels”.
A lot of them are convenient, fruit can easily be washed or peeled and is quickly ready to eat as a healthy snack, nuts can be packaged quite conveniently and are easily portioned out for another great snack and dairy products are clearly labeled as low fat options while still containing much of the same great taste. Any nutritious substance that is consumed or absorbed in order to maintain life and growth is considered food. From an early age, we try eating all sorts of edible substances and seem to only like the ones that are not as healthy for us. The more unhealthy it is, the more humans seem to like it. The more we eat these addictive foods, the more we search for remedies to lose the physical damage it carries on our bodies. Can these delicious canned soups or conveniently packaged frozen meals or sugary boxed cereals truly help us grow in the best of ways?
